Monday Injury Report

Quarterbacks

Philadelphia's Donovan McNabb continues to struggle with the injured thumb on his throwing hand, and aggravated the injury in the second quarter on Sunday. His accuracy is definitely suffering as a result of the injury.

Status: Reports out of Philadelphia indicate that McNabb will remain the starter despite his ongoing trouble with this injury. McNabb commented "There's a difference between hurt and injured. At this point, it hurts, but I'm not injured."


Cleveland's starting QB Kelly Holcomb missed the game on Sunday due to his injured ankle.

Status: Holcomb was listed as questionable before the game. He was the #2 QB on the roster this week, however - he would have gone in if Couch had suffered injury.


Cleveland's current starting QB Tim Couch was shaken up in the game on Sunday, but stayed in the game.

Status: Couch was "woozy", but didn't miss time. The injury is considered minor at this time.


Denver's starting QB Jake Plummer missed the game on Sunday due to his separated throwing-arm shoulder.

Status: Plummer was listed as questionable prior to the game.


Jacksonville's backup QB Mark Brunell had surgery Monday to alleviate swelling in his injured elbow, and is out several weeks, according to head coach Del Rio.


Miami's backup QB Brian Griese missed the game on Sunday due to his toe injury.

Status: Griese was listed as probable before the game.


New York Jets' starting QB Chad Pennington did not play on Sunday.

Status: Pennington has been upgraded to doubtful on the injury report, but is not expected to play for a few more weeks. He's 50-50 to go on October 26th, according to head coach Herman Edwards.


Running Backs


Arizona's Emmitt Smith remains sidelined due to his broken shoulder blade.


Carolina's starting RB Stephen Davis injured his forearm in the game on Sunday.

Status: The injury was feared to be a broken arm, but turned out to be a deep bruise. The injury will be evaluated further as the week progresses, but initial indications are that Davis will be fine.


Chicago's backup RB Rabih Abdullah missed the game on Sunday due to aftereffects of his concussion.

Status: Abdullah was listed as out prior to the game.


Green Bay's backup RB Tony Fisher aggravated his groin injury on Sunday and did not return to action.

Status: The extent of the re-injury is not clear at this time.


Philadelphia's starting RB Brian Westbrook suffered a hip pointer in the first half of the game on Sunday and did not return to action.

Status: Wesbrook declined to comment on the severity of the injury after the game. Further evaluations will occur later this week.


Washington's starting RB Trung Canidate sprained his right ankle in the game on Sunday.

Buffalo's starting RB Travis Henry was shaken up in the game on Sunday, but returned to action.

Status: The injury was minor and is no cause for concern.


Indianapolis' starting RB Edgerrin James missed the game on Sunday due to his injured back and complications from a case of the flu.

Status: James was listed as questionable before the game, and is expected back for the team's week 8 game (Indy is on bye this week). However, James revealed after the game that the injury is actually a fractured transverse process in his lower back, and that only rest will heal his injury.


Indianapolis' reserve RB Dominic Rhodes missed the game due to his injured knee.

Status: The knee injury has become a chronic problem for Rhodes. He was listed as probable before the game on Sunday.


New England's Antowain Smith missed the game on Sunday due to his injured shoulder.

Green Bay's starting LCB Mike McKenzie suffered from back spasms during the game on Sunday, after taking a helmet in the back. He did not return to action.
