Quarterbacks

*** SATURDAY UPDATE *** QB Brett Favre (GB) had some trouble in Friday's practice. Offensive coordinator Tom Rossley said the thumb "was hurting (Favre). I saw him warming up and it was bothering him a lot. But he needed to throw and see the (defensive) looks and get into the game plan." However, QB coach Darrell Bevell said, "After the way he played last week, I'm not concerned at all. He's still going through a lot of pain, but, other than that, he's OK. He was fine today."

*** SATURDAY UPDATE *** QB Rob Johnson (Oak) will serve as the team's #2 QB this weekend.


Running Backs

*** SATURDAY UPDATE *** RB Lee Suggs (Cle) is on the reserve-non football injury list while recovering from shoulder surgery in the spring. He has been practicing though, and there is a chance Suggs could be active this weekend.

*** SATURDAY UPDATE *** RB Ricky Williams (Mia) will explode over the rest of the NFL season according to HC Dave Wannstedt. Coach Wannstedt says the Dolphins "will lead the league in rushing the second half of the season. You watch and see." This is the second straight day of big talk from the Miami running game. It would be nice to see them back it up this weekend.

QB Michael Vick (Atl) is still out with his broken leg, but he still expects to play the last week of November.

QB Kordell Stewart (Chi) is fully healthy again and has assumed the #2 QB spot over Rex Grossman.

QB Kelly Holcomb (Cle) has reclaimed the starting QB position from Tim Couch.

Note that all Denver QBs have a bye this week.

QB Jake Plummer (Den) says his broken foot is healing well, and he is on schedule to return to action after the team's bye week. He expects to play on November 16th.

QBs Drew Brees & Doug Flutie (SD) each took 1st team snaps in Wednesday's practice. Head coach Marty Schottenheimer has not named a starter for this weekend.

*** THURSDAY UPDATE *** QB Doug Flutie (SD) took the majority of snaps in Wednesday's and Thursday's practices, but a starter has not been named. Head coach Marty Schottenheimer says the announcement will be made on Friday.

*** FRIDAY UPDATE *** QB Doug Flutie (SD) has been named the team's starting QB this weekend. If this matter to your success, we hope you're in a VERY large league.

QB Patrick Ramsey (Was) believes the key to winning this weekend is "to beat the blitz". Obviously, Ramsey realizes that every opponent is going to come after him until the Redskins prove they can pass block effectively. Ramsey has been beaten up almost every game this season. Last Sunday was no exception. He is sore, but he practiced on Wednesday and should start this weekend.


Running Backs

*** THURSDAY UPDATE *** FB James Hodgins (Ari) did not practice on Wednesday, but he did practice on Thursday and should play this weekend.

RB Emmitt Smith (Ari) is still out with his injured shoulder but is expected to be healthy in two weeks. Smith says there should be plenty of room in the backfield for two RBs (himself and Marcel Shipp).

*** THURSDAY UPDATE *** RB Jamal Lewis (Bal) is "licking his chops" over a Rams defense that is allowing opposing runners 4.6 yards per carry.

*** FRIDAY UPDATE *** RB Jamal Lewis (Bal) did not take any contact in Friday's practice but should still start this weekend.

*** THURSDAY UPDATE *** RB Chester Taylor (Bal) was added to the injury report, but he practiced on Thursday and should play this weekend.

RB Willis McGahee (Buf) is making great progress in returning from his knee injury and has been activated by the team. However, head coach Gregg Williams said it's too soon to tell when McGahee could be ready to play, if at all this season.

*** THURSDAY UPDATE *** RB Willis McGahee (Buf) will not play this weekend.

RB Stephen Davis (Car) did not practice on Wednesday and is a surprising questionable on the team's injury report with a sore ankle. The team says the injury crept up on Davis beginning Tuesday morning. Unless the injury worsens, Davis should play this weekend. However, it would not be surprising to see the team lighten his load a bit by giving DeShaun Foster a few more carries.

*** THURSDAY UPDATE *** RB Stephen Davis (Car) did not practice on Thursday and is officially a game-time decision. Davis says he is "sore, but fine". Warren Sapp believes Davis will be on the field and is looking forward to meeting up with him.

RB Rod Smart (Car) practiced on Wednesday but might miss this weekend's game.
