Quarterbacks

QB Josh McCown (Ari) could see some action down the stretch.

QB Michael Vick (Atl) says he feels 95% healthy and doesn’t want the coaching staff to hold anything back this weekend.

QB Kyle Boller (Bal) is still out with his injured quadriceps, but he could return to practice next week.

QB Drew Bledsoe (Buf) did not practice on Wednesday due to feeling tired and dizzy from the lingering effects from a helmet-to-helmet hit last Sunday.  As this is the 2nd straight week of dizziness for Bledsoe, he will be closely monitored and is not a lock to play this weekend.

QB Chris Chandler (Chi) practiced on Wednesday, but Kordell Stewart received the most first-team snaps.  A starter has not been named for this weekend, but it looks like Stewart should receive the nod.

QB Kelly Holcomb (Cle) will remain as the team’s starting QB.

QB Brett Favre (GB) practiced on Wednesday and will continue to play with the splint on his broken thumb.

QB Tony Banks (Hou) has been lost for the season with a broken hand.

QB David Carr (Hou) will return as the team’s starting QB this weekend.

QB Dave Ragone (Hou) will be the team’s backup QB this weekend.

QB Mark Brunell (Jac) is healthy again but is the team’s #3 QB.  He says he’ll be playing for another team next year “without a doubt.”

QB Tommy Maddox (Pit) practiced fully on Wednesday and should play this weekend.

QB Doug Flutie (SD) has been named the team’s starting QB for this weekend.

QB Jeff Garcia (SF) is still the team’s starting QB.

QB Steve McNair (Ten) says he feels much better than last week.

QB Patrick Ramsey (Was) should sit another week with his injured foot.  He slipped during practice on Wednesday and may have “tweaked” his foot according to HC Steve Spurrier.  Ramsey did not finish practice and left for treatment on the injury.


Running Backs

RB Sammy Morris (Buf) did not practice on Wednesday and could sit this weekend.

RB DeShaun Foster (Car) practiced on Wednesday and should return this week after missing two games with a broken hand.

RB Anthony Thomas (Chi) partially participated in Wednesday’s practice and (barring a setback) should start this week after sitting last Sunday with viral pneumonia.

RB James Lynch (Cin) was arrested early Tuesday on charges he urinated in a public street and then resisted arrest by trying to kick the windows out of a police car.  He was charged with driving with a suspended license, resisting arrest, public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and fleeing police.

RB William Green (Cle) did not rejoin the Browns on Monday.  He has been further suspended by the league for “treatment purposes.”  Green will have a March 8 pretrial hearing on drunken driving and marijuana possession charges. He appeared in court Wednesday, when the hearing had been scheduled. Commissioner Paul Tagliabue will decide when Green can return.

RB Domanick Davis (Hou) did not practice on Wednesday due to a sore left ankle and right thigh.  However, he is feeling better and expects to play this weekend.  Tony Hollings and Jonathan Wells split practice reps with Davis out.

RB James Mungro (Ind) has been lost for the season after being placed on the injured reserve list with his severe turf toe injury.

FB Detron Smith (Ind) has been lost for the season after being placed on the injured reserve list with his injured knee.

RB Chris Fuamatu-Ma’afala (Jac) did not practice on Wednesday and could sit this weekend.

RB Antowain Smith (NE) was inactive last Sunday, and his future playing time will depend on the playing conditions.  Smith is widely known as a cold-weather back.  The Patriots finish the season with four games in the northeast.

RB James Fenderson (NO) did not practice on Wednesday and is day-to-day with his re-injured ankle.

RB Fred McAfee (NO) did not practice on Wednesday and could sit this weekend.

RB Lamar Smith (NO) will be the team’s back-up RB this weekend.

RB Jerome Bettis (Pit) did not practice on Wednesday but should play this weekend.

RB Verron Haynes (Pit) practiced on Wednesday and should play this weekend.

RB Kevan Barlow (SF) will start this weekend and get the majority of carries with Garrison Hearst hobbled with a knee injury.

RB Garrison Hearst (SF) underwent surgery on the meniscus in his knee and will not play for at least this weekend.

RB John Simon (Was) has been re-signed by the team a week after they released him.


Wide Receivers

WR LaTarence Dunbar (Atl) did not practice on Wednesday and could sit this weekend.

WR Brian Finneran (Atl) did not practice on Wednesday and could sit this weekend.

WR Eric Moulds (Buf) did not practice on Wednesday but should play this weekend.

WR Chris Cole (Den) is out with his injured shoulder.

WR Charles Rogers (Det) has been lost for the season after being placed on the injured reserve list with his broken collarbone.  WR James Williams was signed to take Rogers spot on the roster.

WR Troy Brown (NE) is still not practicing and won’t play this weekend if he can’t get back on the practice field by Friday.

WR Donte Stallworth (NO) partially participated in Wednesday’s practice but could still sit this weekend.

WR Hines Ward (Pit) did not practice on Wednesday but expects to play this weekend despite his severely bruised ribs.  "I’m not sitting out regardless of coaches, whatever," said Ward. "I’m going to fight all the way to the last game of the year. I’ll worry about healing in the off-season. I'm going to fight like we are a 10-4 team."

WR David Boston (SD) did not practice on Wednesday but should play this weekend.

WR Kassim Osgood (SD) could move past Reche Caldwell into the starting lineup.

WR Arnaz Battle (SF) is out with his injured toe.

WR Terrell Owens (SF) did not practice but should play this weekend.

WR Joe Jurevicius (TB) has been lost for the season after being placed on the injured reserve list with his injured knee.  Charles Lee is now the team’s #2 WR.  WR Snoop Minnis has been re-signed to take Jurevicius’ spot on the roster.

WR Keenan McCardell (TB) practiced on Wednesday and should play this weekend.

WR Rod Gardner (Was) did not practice on Wednesday but should play this weekend.

WR Darnerian McCants (Was) practiced on Wednesday and should play this weekend.


Tight Ends

TE Freddie Jones (Ari) did not practice on Wednesday but should play this weekend.

TE Marco Battaglia (Car) has been signed by the team.

TE Kris Mangum (Car) practiced on Wednesday and could play this weekend.

TE Mike Seidman (Car) is out with his injured knee.

TE Dustin Lyman (Chi) is still out with his bruised spleen.

TE David Martin (GB) did not practice on Wednesday and should sit this weekend.

TE Dallas Clark (Ind) is out with his injured ankle.

TE Zach Hilton (NO) did not practice on Wednesday and could sit this weekend.

G Chris Villarrial (Chi) did not practice on Wednesday and could sit this weekend.

LB Ray Thompson (Ari) has been suspended by the NFL for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.  The timing of the suspension means Thompson will miss the remainder of the season.

LB Ray Lewis (Bal) has a protective wrap on his thumb, but he will play this weekend (he is not even on the injury report).

LB Terrell Suggs (Bal) practiced on Wednesday and should play this weekend.

LB Dan Morgan (Car) did not practice on Wednesday due to concussion related effects and could sit this weekend.

LB Dwayne Levels (Cin) practiced on Wednesday and should play this weekend.

LB Ben Taylor (Cle) should sit this weekend as he recovers from a staph infection on his elbow.

LB Dexter Coakley (Dal) partially tore his biceps on Thanksgiving but will continue to play with the injury.

LB Nick Barnett (GB) practiced on Wednesday and should play this weekend.

LB Steve Foley (Hou) practiced on Wednesday and could play this weekend.

LB Jamie Sharper (Hou) did not practice on Wednesday but should play this weekend.

LB Mike Vrabel (NE) did not practice on Tuesday due to the flu but could be able to play this weekend.

LB Cie Grant (NO) did not practice on Wednesday and could sit this weekend.

LB Brandon Moore (SF) did not practice on Wednesday but should play this weekend.

LB Jeff Ulbrich (SF) practiced on Wednesday and should play this weekend.

LB Courtland Bullard (StL) did not practice on Wednesday and could sit this weekend.

S Mike Green (Chi) practiced on Wednesday and could play this weekend.

CB Jeff Burris (Cin) is still out with his head injury.  However, he practiced on Wednesday and hopes to play next weekend.

S Marquand Manuel (Cin) practiced on Wednesday and should play this weekend.

CB Derek Ross (Dal) has been released by the team.  HC Bill Parcells insists he wasn't sending a message to the rest of the Cowboys by cutting Ross just days before a big game. The move came after Ross missed two team functions - a team run and hospital visits - and fumbled twice in a loss to Miami. But the coach said Wednesday those aren't the reasons Ross is gone. Parcells said Ross just didn't have a future with his Cowboys.  Ross has been claimed by the Atlanta Falcons.

S Antuan Edwards (GB) is out at least two week with his injured hamstring.  Marques Anderson will get the start.

S Darren Sharper (GB) practiced on Wednesday and (barring a setback) should play this weekend.

CB Aaron Glenn (Hou) did not practice on Wednesday but should play this weekend.

S Matt Stevens (Hou) has been lost for the season after being placed on the injured reserve list with his injured leg.

S Idrees Bashir (Ind) should miss another week with his injured shoulder.

S Cory Bird (Ind) is out with his injured shoulder.

CB Jason Craft (Jac) practiced on Wednesday and should play this weekend.

CB Jamar Fletcher (Mia) has been lost for the season after being placed on the injured reserve list with his injured arm.  CB Jimmy Wyrick was signed to take Fletcher’s spot on the roster.

CB Ken Irvin (Min) has been named the starter for this weekend over Denard Walker.

CB Dale Carter (NO) partially participated in Wednesday’s practice and could play this weekend.

S David Young (NYJ) is out with his injured hamstring.
