Quarterbacks

QB Jeff Blake (Ari) is day-to-day with his bruised heel but is expected to play this weekend.

QB Michael Vick (Atl) is still on crutches and walking with a boot, but he is still on target for a return to action in either Week Six or Seven.

QB Kyle Boller (Bal) has a slight MCL sprain in his left knee.  He is expected to practice this week and play on Sunday.

QB Kordell Stewart (Chi) suffered a neck stinger near the end of last week’s game.  Chicago has a bye this week so Stewart will most likely be ready to play on Monday September 29th.

QB Jake Plummer (Den) is still sore but is expected to play this Monday despite his shoulder injury.

QB Mark Brunell (Jac) was experiencing some back soreness but is expected to play this weekend.

QB Brian Griese (Mia) is still out with his toe injury.

QB Tom Brady (NE) is expected to play this weekend despite his elbow injury.

QB Jeff Garcia (SF) suffered a mild concussion in last weekend’s game but returned and finished the contest.  He is expected to practice and play as usual this week.

QB Marc Bulger (StL) will continue for at least one more week as the team’s starting QB.  Kurt Warner will be the backup.

QB Brad Johnson (TB) will play this weekend despite his groin strain.

QB Jim Miller (TB) was released by the team after is was determined he had an Achilles tear.

QB Steve McNair (Ten) was obviously limited last week with his knee injury and also dislocated his right ring finger.  The team believes he’ll be a bit healthier this weekend.

Running backs

FB Harold Morrow (Bal) will not play this weekend with his elbow injury.

RB Musa Smith (Bal) will miss another week and is close to being placed on the injured reserve list due to his knee injury.

RB Corey Dillon (Cin) missed some of last week’s game after hyper-extending his right knee.  He is considered day-to-day but fully expects to play this weekend.

RB Rudi Johnson (Cin) practiced on Wednesday and has a chance to play this weekend as he attempts to return from his thigh injury.

RB Clinton Portis (Den) received good news with his MRI and X-ray and is expected to practice this week and play this weekend despite his chest injury.

RB Dominic Rhodes (Ind) missed Wednesday’s practice.  His status for this weekend’s game is not fully known.

RB Priest Holmes (KC) has bruised ribs, was held out of Wednesday’s practice, and is officially questionable for Sunday’s game.  He likely will play this weekend.

RB Doug Chapman (Min) is still bothered by his ankle injury.  His status for this weekend is not fully known.

RB Verron Haynes (Pit) may miss this week’s game with a knee injury.  If he does, look for Amos Zereoue to stay in on 3rd downs.

RB Lamar Gordon (StL) is now the team’s starting FB.  Former starter Arlen Harris is the backup.

Wide Receivers

WR Kevin Kasper (Ari) missed Wednesday’s practice and will likely miss another week with his back injury.

WR Jason McAddley (Ari) was able to practice on Wednesday despite his concussion.

WR Sam Aiken (Buf) is day-to-day with his hamstring injury.

WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh (Cin) will miss another week with his hamstring injury.

WR Az Zahir Hakim (Det) may actually play this weekend.

WR Donald Driver (GB) was able to practice (without contact) on Wednesday, but he will almost definitely miss this weekend’s game.

WR Robert Ferguson (GB) reaggravated his knee injury in last week’s game.  At best, he’ll practice late this week and will likely be limited then.

WR Brandon Stokley (Ind) did not practice on Wednesday and could miss another week with his bad hamstring.  Troy Walters will again be the team’s #3 WR.

WR Reche Caldwell (SD) will miss at least a couple of months after dislocating / fracturing his wrist last weekend.

WR Eric Parker (SD) is a hot commodity with the two injuries listed above and should be strongly considered as a waiver wire addition to your roster.

WR Koren Robinson (Sea) was benched for last weekend’s game after being late to a team meeting.  Bobby Engram started in his place.  Assuming his watch is correct all week, Robinson will start this weekend.

WR Joe Jurevicius (TB) will miss the next 4-6 with an MCL tear after a collision with teammate Mike Alstott.  Karl Williams will now be the team’s #3 WR.  The team also re-signed Charles Lee.

KR Jermaine Lewis (Jac) has been lost for the season with a knee injury.

Offensive Linemen

G Victor Leyva (Cin) practiced on Wednesday and is expected to play this weekend despite his chest injury.

T Barry Stokes (Cle) is wearing a walking boot due to an ankle injury.  He did not practice on Wednesday and could miss this weekend’s game.  Either Ryan Tucker or Joaquin Gonzalez would start in place of Stokes.

G Milford Brown (Hou) has a sprained PCL and will miss at least two weeks.  Todd Washington will start in his place.

T Mark Dixon (Mia) hopes to return from his ankle injury by the October 5th game.

C Damien Woody (NE) missed last week’s game with a chest injury but will definitely be able to go this weekend.

T Luke Petitgout (NYG) practiced on Wednesday and is expected to play this weekend after sitting last Sunday with a sore back.

The New York Giants have made a couple of moves in their starting offensive line.  Chris Bober now starts at RT while rookie Wayne Lucier is the new starting center.

C Jeff Hartings (Pit) is battling knee problems and also has an ankle injury.  His status for this weekend is not fully known.  If he does play, he will likely be limited at best.

T Derrick Deese (SF) missed last week’s game with his high ankle sprain.  His status for this weekend is not fully known.

DE Kavika Pittman (Car) is out for the year after tearing his ACL while being chop-blocked last Sunday by Keenan McCardell.

DT Daryl Gardener (Den) should play his first game as a Bronco this Monday.  He has been out with a wrist injury.

DT Seth Payne (Hou) suffered a torn ACL and has been lost for the season.

DE Gary Walker (Hou) is still out with his shoulder injury.  He appears to be targeting a return in early October.

DE Dwight Freeney (Ind) will likely miss this weekend’s game with a sprained ankle.  Chad Bratzke will start in his place.

DT Jonathan Sullivan (NO) will be out for 2-3 weeks with his knee injury.
