Offensive Upgrades, Aberrations and Downgrades

Upgrades

QB Matt Hasselbeck (Sea) - Matt threw for 333 yards and 5 TDs (with no interceptions) against a usually tough Baltimore Ravens defense. He is heating up at exactly the right time. He should be in your lineup every week.

QB Jay Fiedler (Mia) - He replaced Brian Griese and led the team to a come from behind victory. He'll start from here on out, but the numbers won't be excellent.

*** Waiver Wire *** QB Rick Mirer (Oak) - He's still Rick Mirer, but the guy is a serviceable fantasy QB. He should toss a TD per game and will run in an occasional score as well. Over the last three games, he has a QB rating of 103.5. And this team does have a lot of weapons at receiver.

*** Waiver Wire *** QB Anthony Wright (Bal) - No, he's probably not going to toss four TDs again, but he showed the Ravens that he has the ability to throw the ball (and throw it well). This team now has a good deal of confidence in Anthony Wright. Of course, this team is still focused on defense and running the ball, but they should allow Wright a little more freedom in the air.

QB Donovan McNabb (Phi) - Over the last three games, he has passed for 771 yards and tossed 4 TDs (with no interceptions) for a QB rating of 108.2. He also has amassed 80 yards and a TD on the ground. These numbers rank him as the 4th best fantasy QB during this span. He looks all the way back to us.

QB Jon Kitna (Cin) - He has tossed 7 TDs in the last three weeks and has the team believing in him. With the emergence of Chad Johnson and Peter Warrick this season, the Bengals have a very explosive passing attack. During these three games, Jon Kitna has a QB rating of. 103.6

QB Trent Green (KC) - Over the last three weeks, Trent has averaged 308 passing yards and 2 TDs. He has a QB rating of 109.1

*** Waiver Wire *** QB Billy Volek (Ten) - McNair's early status for week 13 is doubtful. If McNair can't go, Volek will be a good one game starter against the Jets.

RB Michael Bennett (Min) - Bennett got the start yesterday and scored a TD. He was the most used RB yesterday, and that will likely be the case going forward.

RB Kevin Faulk (NE) - The other Faulk turned in 188 total yards yesterday.

RB Edgerrin James (Ind) - James is getting all of the carries in Indianapolis. He had 34 touches yesterday while the other Colts RBs combined for two (Ricky Williams with 2 catches).

RB Deuce McAllister (NO) - This guy is playing as well as anyone right now. His schedule has been tough, but he's still throwing up sick numbers. He put up 232 total yards yesterday and scored a pair of TDs (including a 76-yarder). Over the last two games, he 469 total yards and 4 TDs.

RB James Jackson (Cle) - William Green's troubles look like they could get much worse this year. James Jackson has done well with the opportunity. He has 280 combined yards in the last three games while scoring 3 TDs.

RB Fred Taylor (Jac) - He was cheated on a TD yesterday and is getting opportunities around the goal line. Despite being nicked yesterday, he played a solid game and ran hard. Over the last three weeks Fred has ran for 336 yards and 2 TDs.

*** Waiver Wire *** RB Najeh Davenport (GB) - The Packers are winning the battles on the offensive line by a wide margin. Ahman Green is having a career year, but Davenport is also playing well with limited carries. He had 62 yards on 11 carries yesterday.

RB Clinton Portis (Den) - He busted two long runs yesterday on way to 165 yards on 14 carries. How he only gets 14 carries in a game is beyond us?

*** Waiver Wire *** WR Az-Zahir Hakim (Det) - Hakim is one of the few WRs still on two legs. He is talented so he's likely worth a look in larger leagues.

WR Anquan Boldin (Ari) - No receiver has been hotter the last three weeks. During this time he has 327 yards and 3 TDs receiving on 18 receptions.

WR Chad Johnson (Cin) - He has an impressive 26 catches over the last three weeks. Only Randy Moss (20) and Torry Holt (21) have over 20 catches during this time.

WR David Boston (SD) - He caught 9 passes for 139 yards and 2 TDs yesterday. He is still very inconsistent, but is a threat to have huge weeks.

WR Kevin Johnson (Jac) - In his first day on the job, Johnson caught 5 balls for 72 yards. He and Jimmy Smith look like a great duo.

*** Waiver Wire *** WR Marcus Robinson (Bal) - Quick, name the WR that is working well with Anthony Wright. He is not likely to have another 4 TD game, but Robinson should be a serviceable WR for the remainder of the season. Remember that Wright and Robinson have worked together in practice for much of the season.

WR Darrell Jackson (Sea) - He is quietly outplaying Koren Robinson every game. He had 146 yards and 2 TDs yesterday.

TE Boo Williams (NO) - Williams was given an opportunity when Ernie Conwell went down for the season, and he seized it yesterday with 110 yards and a score.

*** Waiver Wire *** TE Frank Wycheck (Ten) - His fives catches (two for scores) show that he is still the top TE in Tennessee.

*** Waiver Wire *** TE Anthony Becht (NYJ) - He is quietly having a pretty good season. He caught another 5 passes yesterday for 63 yards.

PK Mike Vanderjagt (Ind) - The "idiot drunk kicker" is backing up his mouth. He is a perfect 26 for 26 on FG attempts and 31 for 31 on extra points this season.

Def Denver Broncos (Den) - They have allowed only 313 total yards over the last two games. It is not their fault they are losing.

Aberrations

QB Peyton Manning (Ind) - Although he could struggle again next week against the Patriots, Manning simply ran into a quality defense yesterday.

RB Stephen Davis (Car) - His 2.3 ypc average was pitiful, but the credit goes to the Dallas defense. That's a tough squad. Davis will rebound.

Downgrades

QB Drew Bledsoe (Buf) - In his last three games, he has just 423 passing yards. During this time he has not tossed a TD pass and has 1 interception.

QB Brian Griese (Mia) - The Dolphins offense caught fire when Jay Fiedler returned. Griese won't play again with Fiedler healthy. His QB rating over the last three games is a dreadful 36.2

QB Joey Harrington (Det) - It's not too often that a QB is downgraded after having three of his passes go for TDs. Of course, two of them were caught and returned for scores by Vikings defenders. Ouch.

QB Steve McNair (Ten) - McNair suffered a calf injury yesterday and (according to HC Jeff Fisher) is "doubtful" for this weekend's game.

RB Troy Hambrick (Dal) - He had another poor performance with just 26 yards on 12 carries. He consistently goes down on the first arm tackle he hits. He remains the starter, but is clearly not the future RB on this team.

RB Olandis Gary (Det) - 19 yards on 10 carries pluus little involvement in the passing game (1 catch for 2 yards) makes him a total bust.

RB Kevan Barlow (SF) - He has all but disappeared in the 49ers offense. He had 4 carries for 18 yards and no receptions yesterday. It looks like the 49ers should have traded him to the Cowboys while he still had some value.

RB Tony Hollings (Jac) - In back up duty to Dominick Davis, Tony had 1 run for a loss of one yard.

RB Moe Williams (Min) - Williams still has a role in the passing game, but Michael Bennett is once again the team's main running threat.

WR Randy Moss (Min) - He is clearly hurt and unable to run at full speed. He will play through this, but he may not have his usual explosive games each week.

WR Donte Stallworth (NO) - He has been unable to contribute all season. Even if he somehow gets healthy, he is a complete bust this season.

WR Donald Driver (GB) - Over the last three weeks has just 61 yards on 8 catches (with no TDs). Green Bay has become a run always offense.

WR Antonio Bryant (Dal) - With Galloway healthy again, he looks like the odd man out to us. He has just 73 receiving yards over his last 3 games.

TE Erron Kinney (Ten) - With Wycheck healthy, Kinney is not a viable fantasy TE.

Def San Diego (SD) - They have allowed a whopping 1,362 and 11 TDs in their last three games.
