Offensive Upgrades, Aberrations and Downgrades

Upgrades

QB Jay Fiedler (Mia) - Welcome back, Jay. In his first start since injuring his knee, Fiedler completed 80% of his passes (16 out of 20) and connected with Chris Chambers on three TDs.

QB Matt Hasselbeck (Sea) - The Seattle passing game is absolutely on fire right now. Hasselbeck passed for 328 yards and three scores yesterday. Ride his arm until further notice.

QB Jon Kitna (Cin) - Kitna is playing extremely well and posting excellent stats. Yesterday, Kitna even brought his team from behind on the road as he tossed the game-winner with 13 seconds left.

QB Kordell Stewart (Chi) - While the team still maintains that Chris Chandler is the starting QB, Stewart's performance yesterday was excellent (284 yards passing and 3 total TDs with zero INTs). Most important, Stewart directed a win.

QB Michael Vick (Atl) - Vick played yesterday in his first action of the season. He'll start from here on out. If you've been holding on to him all season, let's hope you're still playoff-bound. If so, Vick may be able to help you out a bit.

QB Tom Brady (NE) - Despite playing with different receivers each week, Brady remains red hot. Assuming he gets all of his weapons back in the next few weeks, this passing offense could be unstoppable.

*** Waiver Wire *** QB Byron Leftwich (Jac) - The talk of benching the rookie should subside after a solid game against the Tampa Bay defense where he completed 20 of 34 for 224 yards and 2 TDs. He did not have an interception or a fumble.

*** Waiver Wire *** QB Tim Rattay (SF) - It took all of one game to end the QB controversy in our eyes. Jeff Garcia was awful. We expect the team to use Tim Rattay the rest of the way.

*** Waiver Wire *** RB Richie Anderson (Dal) - Anderson is easily the most productive RB in Dallas as he had the first 2-TD game of his 11-year career. Anderson is the only back on the roster that still has the confidence of HC Bill Parcells.

*** Waiver Wire *** RB Kevan Barlow (SF) - If Hearst loses significant time, he will be the workhorse in San Francisco.

RB Deuce McAllister (NO) - He turned in his ninth consecutive 100-yard day (196 total yards) and is easily the focus of the New Orleans offense. Consider that McAllister had 35 touches while the rest of the team had 32. Over the last three weeks, McAllister has 667 yards (222 ypg) and 4 TDs. Those stats are simply unreal.

RB Michael Bennett (Min) - He is the main ball carrier now and looked very good with his 7 ypc yesterday. As he gets more carries, he should become a great play each week behind a dominant offensive line.

RB Marshall Faulk (StL) - He may not be where he was a few years ago, but he is definitely on a roll the last few weeks. Yesterday, he had 143 combined yards and 3 TDs.

RB Priest Holmes (KC) - He simply never has a bad game. He had 186 combined yards and 2 TDs yesterday.

RB Domanick Davis (Hou) - With Stacey Mack out for the year, look for the Texans to use Davis often in both the running and passing games. He had 128 combined yards and 2 TDs yesterday.

RB Clinton Portis (Den) - The Denver passing attack looks awful so look for the team to use Portis often down the stretch. He had 170 yards on the ground and scored 2 TDs yesterday.

RB Corey Dillon (Cin) - He split the carries again this week, but outperformed Rudi Johnson the last two games. Look for him to get the majority of the workload the rest of the way.

*** Waiver Wire *** RB Tyrone Wheatley (Oak) - He outplayed Charlie Garner again. We expect he will hold onto the starting job in Oakland for now.

RB TJ Duckett (Atl) - Warrick Dunn is out for the year and Vick will make everyone better. Duckett could shine in these last few games.

WR Chris Chambers (Mia) - Chambers had a great Thanksgiving with five catches for 96 yards and a trio of TDs (one of which was spectacular). He and Jay Fiedler are very much on the same page.

WR Randy Moss (Min) - He compiled another 10 catches for 160 yards and a TD yesterday. He is having possibly his best season ever this year.

WR Darrell Jackson (Sea) - After spending all week as questionable, Jackson was huge yesterday catching 8 balls for 102 yards and a pair of TDs.

WR Jimmy Smith (Jac) - He looked very sharp yesterday and hauled in 10 catches for 136 yards and a TD.

WR Muhsin Muhammad (Car) - He is playing his best football right now. Over the last three games, he has 326 receiving yards and a TD on 17 receptions.

*** Waiver Wire *** WR Marcus Robinson (Bal) - Often times, a WR will be a big disappointment the week following a huge breakout game, but Robinson caught a TD and had 71 yards yesterday. He looks like a good play the rest of the way.

*** Waiver Wire *** WR Az-Zahir Hakim (Det) - He is quietly putting up decent numbers down the stretch. Over the last three weeks, he has 186 yards receiving and 2 TDs.

*** Waiver Wire *** WR Marty Booker (Chi) - He is getting more involved in the offense again and appears to be the #1 WR for the Bears.

*** Waiver Wire *** TE Jim Kleinsasser (Min) - A TE catching ten balls is very rare. In leagues that award a point per reception, Kleinsasser could be huge.

*** Waiver Wire *** TE Jason Witten (Dal) - Witten is becoming a huge part of the Dallas passing game. He has 26 catches on the season with 14 of them coming in the last two games. Witten is definitely a player on the upswing.

*** Waiver Wire *** Eddie "Boo" Williams (NO) - He has been a monster since Ernie Conwell went down with injury. He had 43 yards and a score this week.

TE Marcus Pollard (Ind) - With Dallas Clark's season potentially over, Pollard gets a huge upgrade the rest of the way.

Aberrations

QB Brett Favre (GB) - Favre tossed a pair of TDs and neared 300 passing yards. However, this is still a running team (as strange as that seems to say).

RB Mike Cloud (NE) - Sure, Cloud had a pair of TDs, but that's definitely not going to happen too often. His six yards on four carries is far from sweet. We believe he'll be inactive down the stretch as the Patriots last four games will be on grass and in the cold. That's Antowain Smith type weather.

RB Brock Forsey (Chi) - Forsey was named the starter late last week after Anthony Thomas was stricken with viral pneumonia. Forsey turned in a monster day (161 total yards and a TD), but Thomas will be back this weekend.

RB Tiki Barber (NYG) - He had just one reception and 24 total yards. This should not happen again if the Giants expect to win some football games.

WR Joe Horn (NO) - Despite being the only capable receiver on the field, he had a terrible day with just 10 yards receiving on 2 catches (despite 13 targets). He also had a run of 13 yards. Much of this had to do with being covered by Champ Bailey. Expect Horn to return to normal production the rest of the way.

Downgrades

QB Jeff Garcia (SF) - Garcia returned from his sprained ankle and stunk up the joint in Baltimore. Tim Rattay had a better fantasy day and he only attempted 7 passes.

QB Doug Johnson (Atl) - He is no Mike Vick and will only see time if Vick gets hurt.

RB Troy Hambrick (Dal) - After a Thanksgiving Day that saw 2 yards on 3 carries, Hambrick has sunk to an unbelievable low.

RB Charlie Garner (Oak) - He had just 6 carries for 14 yards. Tyrone Wheatley had only 8 carries, but gained 85 yards. We expect Wheatley to continue to get the bulk of the work.

RB Garrison Hearst (SF) - He sprained his knee and never returned. He looks like he will miss the next game at a minimum.

RB Rudi Johnson (Cin) - he is a fan favorite, but he has been outplayed by a healthy Corey Dillon the last two weeks. His time in the spotlight seems to be fading.

WR Jerry Rice (Oak) - He has only 1 TD for the year and managed only 2 catches for 27 yards yesterday. He seems very stoppable now.

WR Travis Taylor (Bal) - He had just 3 catches for 21 yards. Todd Heap and Marcus Robinson look to be the go-to receivers on this team.

WR Rod Smith (Den) - He had only 1 catch for 20 yards as Clinton Portis was options 1, 2 and 3.

WR Todd Pinkston (Phi) - McNabb has heated up, but Pinkston has not.

WR Troy Brown (NE) - He continues to miss time to injury. The fact that Deion Branch, David Givens and Bethel Johnson all are playing good only lowers Brown's stock.

TE Jeremy Shockey (NYG) - He had a setback with his leg and probably will be questionable the rest of the way. With the Giants out of contention, he could be sidelined the rest of the way.

TE Dallas Clark (Ind) - He broke his leg and is likely out for the rest of the year.

PK John Kasay (Car) - Kasay was on fire early in the season, but he is struggling mightily right now (three misses yesterday). PKs are a fickle bunch so it remains to be seen how Kasay reacts to this bad turn.

HC Bill Callahan (Oak) - After his ninth loss of the year, Callahan called his Raiders "the dumbest team in America in terms of playing the game." Obviously, he has lost this team.
