Essential News

The Arizona Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Pittsburgh Steelers are all on their bye this week.

QB Kurt Kittner (Atl) has been named the team's starting QB for this weekend. There is nothing physically wrong with Doug Johnson.

QB Michael Vick (Atl) threw the ball with a little more force on Monday and still hopes to be able to play on November 2nd. However, he still is not doing anything more than light jogging.

Chris Chandler will start in place of demoted Kordell Stewart this weekend. This looks like a temporary move until rookie Rex Grossman can get in the mix. Grossman will be the #2 QB this weekend.

QB Tim Couch (Cle) will continue as the team's starting QB at least until Kelly Holcomb is completely healthy. Additionally, do not be surprised to see Holcomb on the injury report as long as Couch is playing well.

QB Jake Plummer (Den) will miss the next 4-5 weeks with a broken bone in his left foot. Steve Beuerlein will continue as the team's starting QB.

QB Joey Harrington (Det) was held out of a few practices last week while the team had their bye in order to rest a bit. He returned to practice this week, but will likely be bothered by his injured finger all season.

QB Mark Brunell (Jac) underwent surgery on his elbow to reduce swelling in the joint. He will be out for 2-3 weeks. When he returns, it will not be as the starting QB. That role belongs to Byron Leftwich for the remainder of the season.

QB Daunte Culpepper (Min) practiced this week and will start for the Vikings after spending the last few weeks letting his back heal.

QB Donovan McNabb (Phi) has a sprained thumb (in his throwing hand) but will continue to be the team's starting QB. This is horrible news for a QB because it affects the grip on the ball.

RB Jamal Lewis (Bal) has a sore shoulder, but is expected to start this weekend as normal.

RB Travis Henry (Buf) still has soreness in his ribs, but he is expected to start this weekend after practicing all week.

RB James Mungro (Ind) underwent knee surgery on Thursday to remove a "loose body". He will miss at least two weeks.
