Tidbits - Week 10

Arizona Cardinals

  • The last time the Cardinals faced the Steelers was 1997. They lost 26 to 20. WR Rob Moore caught 8 passes for 188 yards in that game.
  • The Cardinals have lost their last eight road games dating back to last season.
  • This Shipp is in! RB Marcel Shipp has carried the ball 64 times in his last two starts for an impressive 4.8 YPC.
  • Rookie WR Anquan Boldin hasn't gone over 100 yards receiving since he put up 217 yards back in week one.
  • The Cardinals are 3-2 at home this season.
  • In three road games, the Cardinals are 0-3 and have been outscored 44 to 103.

Atlanta Falcons

  • The Falcons have been outscored 72 to 197 in the last six football games (12 to 32.8)
  • The Falcons rushing attack continues to do well. The Dunn/Duckett combination have combined for 696 rushing yards on 149 carries and 5 scores.
  • Since week three, Falcons quarterbacks have only thrown 3 touchdown passes against 11 interceptions.
  • In week five, WR Peerless price caught 12 passes for 168 yards. In the other seven weeks combined he only has 25 receptions for 263 yards.

Baltimore Ravens

  • The Ravens have given up 18 or less points in six of their eight games this season.
  • The Ravens have scored 24 or more points in four straight football games.
  • The Ravens have given up 13.3 points at home this year and 24.0 points on the road.
  • Rookie QB Kyle Boller has one 300+ passing game this season (302 yards). In the other seven games he has averaged 119.4 yards per game.
  • RB Jamal Lewis reached 1000 rushing yards in only eight games (1045 yards). He is on pace to eclipse 2000 yards.
  • In week seven, WR Travis Taylor had 138 receiving yards and 2 scores. In his other seven starts, Taylor has a total of 176 receiving yards and 1 score.

Buffalo Bills

  • The Bills have only averaged 12.3 points per game since week three.
  • The Bills are only 1-7 on the road in the last eight away games.
  • In the last three road games, the Bills have been outscored 15 to 85.
  • In his first five games, RB Travis Henry carried the ball 96 times for only 260 yards (2.7 YPC). In his last two games he has 291 yards on 53 carries (5.5 YPC).
  • WR Eric Mould has only caught one touchdown pass this season.

Carolina Panthers

  • The Panthers have only scored 31 points against the Buccaneers in the last three games but have given up only 44 points.
  • In week two against the Buccaneers the Panthers only completed 9 passes (out of 23 thrown). They ran the ball 40 times for 171 yards.
  • RB Stephen Davis carried the ball 33 times for 142 yards against the Buccaneers in week two.
  • WR Steve Smith is on fire. He has 30 receptions for 442 yards in his last four games.
  • Smith has caught 24 of the last 34 passes thrown his way (70.6%).

Chicago Bears

  • In his last four starts, RB Anthony Thomas has 440 rushing yards and 3 scores.
  • The Bears are 0-4 on the road. They have been outscored 117 to 50 in those games.
  • Under HC Dick Jauron, the Bears have faced the Lions nine times. The Bears have won six of those games.
  • The Bears defense has only given up 88 points in the last five games after giving up 111 points in the first three games.
  • WR Dez White has been targeted 34 times in the last three games. He has only caught 16 of those passes though.

Cincinnati Bengals

  • The Bengals haven't had a winning record since 1990 when Boomer Esiason was throwing the ball for the team.
  • Since week three, RB Corey Dillon has only carried the ball 36 times for 90 yards (2.5 YPC) and 1 score.
  • QB Jon Kitna has thrown for more than 200 yards in all but one game so far in 2003. He is on pace to thrown for 3764 passing yards.
  • Kitna has had at least one touchdown pass in all but one game so far this season and in fifteen of his last eighteen starts.
  • WR Chad Johnson has only caught 12 of the 29 passes thrown his way in the last three weeks.
  • WR Peter Warrick has caught 16 of the 28 passes thrown his way in the last three weeks.
  • Warrick is on pace for a career best 88 receptions, 850 receiving yards and 8 touchdown receptions.

Cleveland Browns

  • Bust of the year candidate WR Quincy Morgan is on pace for only 474 receiving yards this season.
  • Last season, Morgan only had five games with under 50 receiving yards. This season, Morgan has already had six (and a seventh game with 51 yards)
  • No Browns' player is averaging more than 12.5 yards per catch.
  • QB Kelly Holcomb is only averaging 5.11 yards per attempt this season.
  • The Browns have scored 14 or less points in six of the eight games so far this year.
  • The Browns haven't had a 300-yard passing game in the regular season since week three of last season.

Dallas Cowboys

  • WR Joey Galloway has only caught 7 passes in the last four games for a total of 142 yards. He hasn't score since week one.
  • WR Terry Glenn has 24 receptions in his last five starts for 319 yards and 5 touchdowns.
  • RB Troy Hambrick is on pace for 1088 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns.
  • QB Quincy Carter has had three straight games with under 200 yards passing.
  • The Cowboys have won their last three home games by a combined score of 68 to 42.

Denver Broncos

  • Bye Week

Detroit Lions

  • QB Joey Harrington has faced the Bears three times. He has completed 60 of his 110 passes (54.5%) for 592 passing yards and 2 touchdown passes.
  • The Lions haven't scored more than 28 points against the Bears in the last eleven games.
  • RB Shawn Bryson gained 67 yards on only 14 carries against the Bears back in week eight.
  • The Lions haven't won back-to-back games since the 2000 season.

Green Bay Packers

  • QB Brett Favre continues to get better instead of older. He is on pace to throw 32 touchdown passes.
  • Favre's is on pace to have his best ever completion percentage for a season (67.1%).
  • RB Ahman Green is on pace to run for 1742 yards, catch 70 passes for 562 yards and score 22 touchdowns.
  • Green has had 95 or more total yards in every game he has played in this season
  • The Packers have scored 24 or more points in all but one game so far this season and are on pace to score 461 points this season.

Houston Texans

  • The Texans are 3-9 on the road as a franchise
  • RB Domanick Davis is on pace for 1422 total yards this season. He has clearly emerged as the top Texans running back.
  • Last season the Texans didn't have one 100-yard rushing game from the running backs. This season Davis already has two efforts over 100 yards.
  • Rookie WR Andre Johnson is on pace for 78 receptions, 1118 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns.
  • The Texans have lost their last three road games by a combined score of 48 to 99.

Indianapolis Colts

  • QB Peyton Manning is having his best season yet. He is completing 68.1% of his passes and is on pace to throw for 4256 yards and 32 touchdowns.
  • Manning has faced the Jaguars four times in his career. He has 1013 passing yards, 10 touchdown passes and only 1 interception in those games.
  • Manning has only thrown 4 interceptions in his last 227 passes.
  • WR Reggie Wayne caught 10 passes for 141 yards and 2 touchdowns against the Jaguars back in week three.
  • RB Edgerrin James has faced the Jaguars four times in his career. In those games he has totaled 487 combined yards but only 1 touchdown.
  • The Colts are undefeated on the road this season (4-0)

Jacksonville Jaguars

  • Rookie QB Byron Leftwich is averaging a solid 7.29 YPA and completing 60.0% of his throws.
  • RB Fred Taylor has had only one game with over 100 yards rushing this season. He has averaged 3.5 YPC or worse in five of the eight games.
  • The one game Taylor did run for more than 100 yards though was against the Colts back in week three (126 rushing yards).
  • WR Jimmy Smith has faced the Colts three times. He has 20 receptions for 271 yards and a pair of scores in those games.
  • RB Fred Taylor has faced the Colts four times. He has rushed for 339 yards and scored 2 touchdowns in those games.
  • The Jaguars have been outscored 71 to 113 at home this season.

Kansas City Chiefs

  • RB Priest Holmes is on pace to score 24 touchdowns.
  • The Chiefs have averaged 32.5 points at home so far this season.
  • The Chiefs have won nine straight home games dating back to last season (last loss was to Denver back in week seven of 2002).
  • The Chiefs with eight wins have already equaled their best season since 1999.
  • After a slow start, TE Tony Gonzalez has caught fire. He has 16 receptions in the last four games for 320 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns.

Miami Dolphins

  • The Dolphins are only 1-3 at home this season but have managed to win all four games on the road.
  • RB Ricky Williams is struggling to find room to run. He is only averaging 3.4 yards per carry and hasn't rushed for 100+ yards in his last five games.
  • WR Chris Chambers is on pace to score 12 touchdowns this season and is one of the long bright spots on the offense this year.
  • QB Brian Griese is completing 65.5% of his passes and has 4 touchdown passes against 0 interceptions.

Minnesota Vikings

  • WR Randy Moss is having his best season to date. He is on pace to catch 104 passes for 1756 receiving yards and score 18 touchdowns.
  • Moss has caught 52 of the 85 passes thrown his way this season (61.2%). Last year Moss caught 52.7% of the passed directed at him.
  • The Vikings haven't scored less than 17 points this season and haven't fallen under than mark in the last eighteen games dating back to last season.
  • QB Daunte Culpepper has only thrown 2 interceptions this year (1 every 80 passes) compared to 1 every 23.9 passes a year ago.

New York Giants

  • WR Ike Hillliard is on pace to catch 90 passes and 12 touchdowns. His career highs to date are 72 receptions (back in '99) and 8 touchdowns (back in '00)
  • Hilliard has caught 45 of the 78 passes thrown his way (57.7%)
  • WR Amani Toomer has only caught 38.4% of the balls thrown his way (33 of the 86 passes). Last season he caught 54.3% of all balls directed his way.
  • The Giants have four players on pace for at least 66 receptions this season (Hilliard, Toomer, Jeremy Shockey and Tiki Barber)
  • QB Kerry Collins is on pace to throw for a career best 4370 yards.
  • In the last three games, Barber, Hilliard and Toomer have each caught 15 passes and Jeremy Shockey has caught 16 passes.

New York Jets

  • RB Curtis Martin is now on pace to rush for more than 1000 yards after a slow start. The bad news? He hasn't scored a touchdown yet on 165 touches.
  • WR Santana Moss is on pace to catch 14 touchdown passes this year.
  • In his last three games, S. Moss has caught 21 passes for 328 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns.
  • The Jets faced Oakland twice last year in Oakland and lost both games.
  • QB Chad Pennington threw for 448 passing yards and 3 touchdowns in the two games against Oakland last year.

Oakland Raiders

  • The Raiders have only scored 12 offensive touchdowns in eight games this season. Last year they scored 47 offensive touchdowns in 16 games.
  • RB Charlie Garner is averaging a solid 4.5 YPC. The bad news is that he only has 85 total carries on the season.
  • Both Marques Tuiasosopo and Rick Mirer have struggled since replacing Rich Gannon. They have thrown no touchdowns and five interceptions.
  • WR Jerry Rice still hasn't caught a touchdown pass this season (12 straight games going back to last season)
  • Last season the Raiders averaged 28.1 points per game. This season they are averaging 17.3 points per game.

Philadelphia Eagles

  • The Eagles have won five of their last six games despite offensive struggles.
  • The Eagles have managed to average 22 points per game over the last six contests after scoring only 10 points in the first two games.
  • The three-headed monster at running back (Westbrook, Buckhalter and Staley) have combined for 785 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns so far this season.
  • WR Todd Pinkston has only caught 18 of the 53 passes thrown his way in 2003 (33.9%). Last year he caught 51.7% of those passes.
  • Eagles' receivers have caught only one touchdown pass so far on the season (caught by Freddie Mitchell).

Pittsburgh Steelers

  • WR Plaxico Burress continues to struggle. He is only catching 46.6% of the throws in his direction. Last year he caught 50.0% of those throws.
  • Burress has only a single touchdown reception on the season.
  • Burress has only caught 21 passes for 280 receiving yards and no scores in the last six football games.
  • WR Hines Ward is on pace to catch 108 passes for 1306 yards and score 12 touchdowns.
  • Ward has only had one 100-yard receiving game this season (back in week two against the Chiefs)

San Diego Chargers

  • In week five, WR David Boston had 14 receptions for 181 yards and 2 touchdowns. In all his other games, he only has 19 receptions for 232 yards.
  • Boston has managed to catch 58.9% of the passes thrown his way. He has only had 56 passes come his way though.
  • QB Drew Brees has struggled in his last three starts. He has only thrown for 313 total yards and no touchdown passes in those games.
  • RB LaDainian Tomlinson is on pace for 1560 rushing yards, 562 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.

San Francisco 49ers

  • Bye Week

Seattle Seahawks

  • Last year the Seahawks gave up 23.1 points per game. This season, the team is giving up only 18.4 points per game.
  • QB Matt Hasselbeck is having a career season. He is on pace to throw for 3548 yards and toss 24 touchdowns.
  • WR Darrell Jackson is putting up good numbers but has dropped a lot of balls and has caught only 42.3% of the balls thrown his way.
  • WR Koren Robinson has struggled with injuries but has caught 51.7% of the passes thrown his way.
  • RB Shaun Alexander is having his typical season. He is on pace to rush for 1262 yards and score 16 touchdowns.
  • In the last three games, WR Bobby Engram has caught 12 of the 16 passes (75 %) thrown his way.

St. Louis Rams

  • WR Torry Holt is on fire. He is on pace to catch 126 passes for 1956 yards and score 18 touchdowns. He has already eclipsed his season high for touchdowns with 9.
  • Holt has caught 63 of the 97 passes thrown his way (64.9%)
  • Holt has been targeted 41 times in the last three games.
  • QB Marc Bulger is averaging 298 yards passing per game and is on pace to throw for 4470 yards this season and 25 touchdowns.
  • Bulger has thrown for over 350 yards in three of the last four football games.
  • Bulger is also on pace to throw 19 interceptions.
  • Rookie RB Arlen Harris has scored 4 touchdowns but is averaging only 3.0 YPC on the season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • The Buccaneers have followed each win this season with a loss.
  • After a hot start, QB Brad Johnson has cooled off some. He has 4 touchdown passes and 5 interceptions in his last three games.
  • WR Keenan McCardell is having a great season. He is on pace for 1160 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns (his career high for a season is only 6 tds).
  • The Buccaneers have only rushed for 2 touchdowns this season (both by Mike Alstott).
  • RB Michael Pittman is on pace for 1650 total yards on the season (1026 rushing yards and 624 receiving yards)

Tennessee Titans

  • The Titans have won eight straight games at home dating back to last season.
  • WR Derrick Mason has caught 69.8% of the passes thrown in his direction this season.
  • QB Steve McNair is on pace for a career best in passing yards, completion percentage, yards per attempt, passing touchdowns and interceptions.
  • RB Eddie George is averaging 2.9 YPC on the season. He would have to carry the ball 345 times to break the 1000-yard mark.
  • George has yet to run for more than 3.4 YPC in a game this season.
  • RB Robert Holcomb has carried the ball 27 times in the last two games for 98 rushing yards.

Washington Redskins

  • After a hot start, QB Patrick Ramsey is struggling thanks to horrible pass blocking up front. Over the last five games, Ramsey has…
    • completed 80 of his 159 passes (50.3%)
    • averaged 177.6 passing yards per game
    • thrown five touchdowns against 4 interceptions
    • averaged only 5.58 yards per attempt
  • WR Laveranues Coles has also cooled off. He only has 23 receptions in the last five games for 267 yards with his best effort being only 62 yards in a game.
  • In his last six games, RB Ladell Betts has carried the ball 56 times for 167 yards (3.0 YPC)
  • In three straight losses, the Redskins have been outscored 34 to 80.
  • In the last two games, Coles and Rod Gardner have only caught 10 of the 32 passes (31.3%) thrown in their direction.
