Tidbits - Week 11

Arizona Cardinals

  • WR Anquan Boldin is still on pace for 100 receptions and 1404 yards.
  • Boldin continues to get a lot of looks. He has been targeted 31 times in the last three games (he has caught 18 of those passes - 58.1%)
  • Boldin has caught at least 5 passes in seven of the nine games this season.
  • The other Cardinals' receivers (Bryant Johnson and Bryan Gilmore) have only caught 9 of the last 31 passes thrown their way (29.0%)
  • RB Marcel Shipp has 85 carries in the past three games but has yet to score a touchdown.
    " Shipp has had four straight games with over 100 yards in total offense (543 total yards in those games)

Atlanta Falcons

  • The Falcons have completed 46 of 108 passes in the last four games (42.6%).
  • QB Kurt Kittner has horrible passing numbers. His YPA is only 3.57, his completion percentage is 41.4% and he has 4 interceptions against 2 touchdowns.
  • RB Warrick Dunn is averaging 5.6 YPC on the season and is on pace for 882 rushing yards.
  • WR Peerless Price is averaging only 52 yards per game on the season and has only one 100-yard receiving game this season.
  • In the first four games, TE Alge Crumpler had 15 receptions for 255 yards and 2 scores. In the last five games he has 11 receptions for 130 yards and 0 scores.

Baltimore Ravens

  • RB Jamal Lewis has run for at least 100 yards in seven of the nine games this season.
  • Lewis is on pace for 2055 rushing yards on the season.
  • In the last three weeks, WR Travis Taylor has only been targeted 18 times and has managed only 6 receptions.

Buffalo Bills

  • The Bills are 2-5 over the last seven games and have scored only 80 points.
  • In the last four road games, the Bills have scored only 21 total points. That is 5.25 points per game.
  • In his last five games, QB Drew Bledsoe has only averaged 183 yards per game and has thrown 2 touchdowns and 5 interceptions.
  • In his last five games, RB Travis Henry has carried the ball 117 times for 509 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Carolina Panthers

  • After a slow start, QB Jake Delhomme is improving. He is on pace for 2971 passing yards and 18 touchdowns on the season.
  • The magic of WR Steve Smith continues. Over the last five games, he has 39 receptions for 514 yards and 4 touchdowns.
  • WR Steve Smith has caught almost everything thrown to him in the past three weeks (76.7%)
  • The 27 points the Panthers scored last week is the highest total they have had in the last dozen games.

Chicago Bears

  • The Bears are on pace to throw for only 2635 yards this season and have thrown twice as many interceptions as touchdowns.
  • RB Anthony Thomas has only averaged 3.3 yards in the last two games on 52 carries.
  • So much for WR Dez White emerging as a threat. He has only caught 12 passes in the last three weeks (for 112 yards)
  • WR David Terrell has caught 15 of the 20 passes thrown his way in the last three weeks. The bad news is he only averaged 6.4 yards per catch.
  • RB Anthony Thomas hasn't been thrown one pass in the last three weeks.

Cincinnati Bengals

  • A new era in Cincy? RB comparison…
    • RB Rudi Johnson has averaged 3.8 YPC and is scoring one touchdown every 23.2 carries
    • RB Corey Dillon has averaged 3.0 YPC and is scoring one touchdown every 34.5 carries
  • QB Jon Kitna continues to show improvement. He is on pace for 3669 passing yards and 23 touchdowns on the year.
  • WR Chad Johnson hasn't had less than 3 receptions or 59 yards receiving all season.
  • Johnson is on pace for 1435 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns.

Cleveland Browns

  • Since regaining the starting job in week eight, QB Kelly Holcomb has averaged 132 passing yards per game; 7.8 yards per completion and has only 1 touchdown pass.
  • Holcomb has a quarterback rating of 69.3 while QB Tim Couch has managed a rating of 79.2
  • Couch is 2-2 as a starter this season while Holcomb is 1-4.
  • Not only is WR Quincy Morgan not catching passes, he is getting chances to either. He has only been targeted 6 times in the last two games.

Dallas Cowboys

  • QB Quincy Carter has now gone five straight games without throwing for 200 yards (averaging 157.6 yards per game during that stretch)
  • Against the Bills last week, Carter averaged a season low 3.63 yards per attempt.
  • RB Troy Hambrick is only averaging 3.4 yards per carry this season and has averaged less than 3.2 in six of the nine games this season.
  • The Cowboys' passing game is beginning to show signs of weakening. The receivers only caught 23 of the last 51 passes thrown to them.

Denver Broncos

  • RB Clinton Portis has rushed for at least 111 yards in five of the eight games he has played in this season.
  • In three career games against the Chargers, Portis has carried the ball 55 times for 390 yards (7.1 YPC).
  • The Broncos beat the Chargers in San Diego 37 to 13 back in week two. The Broncos rushed for 197 yards in that game (Portis had 129 of those yards)
  • The Broncos have defeated the Chargers each of the last three meetings in Denver.
  • WR Ashley Lelie has been thrown the ball 18 times in the last three weeks. He has only managed 6 receptions though (33.3%)

Detroit Lions

  • Lions' running backs carried the ball 17 times for only 10 yards last week against the Bears
  • The most rushing yards one player has gained in one game this season for the Lions is only 73 yards (RB Shawn Bryson - week four)
  • The Lions haven't had a 100-yard receiving game from any player this season.
  • The Lions are 3-2 at home this season but still haven't won on the road in the last twenty games (final game of the 2000 season was the last road victory).
  • A.Z. Hakim and Bill Schroeder have only caught 33 of the 86 passes thrown their way (38.4%).

Green Bay Packers

  • Last week's 109 passing yards were QB Brett Favre's second lowest total since 1995.
  • Favre is only averaging 203.6 passing yards per game which would be his lowest average per game in a season.
  • Favre is on pace to throw 487 passes. That would be his lowest total since he joined the Packers in 1992.
  • RB Ahman Green has had six 100-yard rushing games this season. He has also caught 3 or more passes seven times.
  • Green has had five multiple touchdown games this season.
  • Green is on pace to rush for 1890 yards, catch 68 passes for 556 yards and score 23 times.
  • Last season after nine games, WR Donald Driver had 46 receptions for 717 yards and 5 touchdowns.
  • This season after nine games, WR Donald Driver has 29 receptions for 317 yards and a single score.
  • Driver has only caught 3 of the last 10 passes thrown his way.
  • The Packers haven't had a 100-yard receiving game this season.

Houston Texans

  • RB Domanick Davis continues to run well. He has gained 416 rushing yards and 105 receiving yards in the last four games.
  • WR Corey Bradford is averaging 23.2 yards per catch this season.
  • QB David Carr is on pace to throw for 3055 yards this season and 15 touchdowns. His numbers are better across the board in his second season.
  • Rookie WR Andre Johnson has caught at least 2 passes in every game this season. He is on pace for 1047 receiving yards on the season.
  • Johnson is catching 61.6% of the passes thrown in his direction. To compare, fellow rookie WR Charles Rogers has only caught 42.1%
  • In his last three starts, Johnson has caught 13 of the 17 passes thrown his way (76.5%)

Indianapolis Colts

  • RB Edgerrin James is struggling. He has only gained 133 rushing yards on 41 carries (3.24 YPC) in his last two starts.
  • QB Peyton Manning has thrown for at least 266 yards in six straight football games (1875 passing yards in that stretch).
  • In both Colts losses, the team was up by 10 and 13 points respectively.
  • WR Reggie Wayne is on pace to grab 71 passes and 9 touchdowns.
  • Wayne has caught 65.6% of the balls thrown his way in 2003.
  • Wayne has been targeted 25 times in the last three weeks.

Jacksonville Jaguars

  • Against the Colts in two games this year, RB Fred Taylor has rushed for 278 yards. In the other seven games, he has 457 yards.
  • Taylor hasn't missed a football game since the 2001 season. Has the 'Fragile' moniker finally left his side?

    • averaged 228 passing yards
    • averaged 1 touchdown pass per game
    • completed 57.7 % of his passes

  • WR Jimmy Smith is averaging 5.2 receptions per game and 84.2 yards per game.

Kansas City Chiefs

  • QB Trent Green is on pace to throw for 3916 yards and 25 touchdowns. He has thrown only 7 interceptions on the season.
  • RB Priest Holmes is on pace to rush for 1532 yards and score 25 touchdowns.
  • The Chiefs have five players with 20 or more receptions (Kennison, Gonzalez, Morton, Holmes and Hall).
  • In the last three games, WR Eddie Kennison has caught 12 of the 21 passes thrown his way while WR Johnnie Morton has caught only 4 of 12.

Miami Dolphins

  • RB Ricky Williams is struggling. In his last six games he has carried the ball 117 times for only 350 yards (3.0 YPC).
  • The Dolphins haven't score more than 24 points in a game this season. They are only averaging 18.7 points per game.
  • WR Chris Chambers is scoring touchdowns but not putting up lots of yardage. In the last six games he has only 231 receiving yards.

Minnesota Vikings

  • In the last five games the Vikings have given up 147 points per game.
  • QB Daunte Culpepper is averaging 2 touchdown passes per game.
  • WR Randy Moss is on pace for 1774 receiving yards on the season (NFL Record is 1848 by Jerry Rice). He has had at least 81 receiving yards in seven straight games.
  • Moss is catching 65.7% of the balls thrown his way this season. Last year he hauled in 52.7% of the passes thrown to him.
  • In the last three games, Moss has caught 26 passes for 374 yards and 4 touchdowns.
  • The Vikings haven't scored less than 17 points all season.

New England Patriots

  • In his last eight starts, QB Tom Brady has completed 60.9 % of his throws for 1948 passing yards. He also has thrown 11 touchdowns against only 4 interceptions.
  • The Patriots are averaging over 100 rushing yards per game led by Kevin Faulk's 417 rushing yards.
  • The leading receiver for the Patriots is Deion Branch who has caught 29 passes for 427 yards and 2 scores.
  • The Patriots are 4-0 at home this season.

New Orleans Saints

  • In the last three games against the Falcons, RB Deuce McAllister has rushed for 274 yards and scored 5 touchdowns.
  • In his last five starts against the Falcons, QB Aaron Brooks has thrown for 1351 yards and tossed 9 touchdowns.
  • WR Joe Horn is on pace to score 11 touchdowns.
  • In his last seven games against the Falcons, Horn has caught 39 passes for 710 yards and 4 touchdowns.
  • Horn has scored a touchdown against the Falcons in four straight contests.

New York Giants

  • The Giants only have five rushing touchdowns on the season (RB Tiki Barber has only scored two of them)
  • QB Kerry Collins has had four multiple touchdown games this season but also four multiple interception games.
  • In seven games against the Eagles, Collins has averaged 231.3 passing yards per game and thrown 6 touchdowns (against only 1 interception)
  • The Giants have lost three of the last four games to the Eagles in Philadelphia.
  • The Giants are 3-1 on the road this season.
  • In his last nine meetings against the Eagles, WR Amani Toomer has caught 39 passes for 551 yards and 3 scores.
  • The good news? Toomer has been targeted 37 times in the last three weeks. The bad news is he only caught 15 of those throws (40.5%)
  • In his last seven starts against the Eagles, RB Tiki Barber has put up a combined 1046 total yards but has only scored a single touchdown.

New York Jets

  • In the first four games this season, the Jets averaged 11.3 points per game. In the last five they have averaged 24.2 points per game.
  • WR Santana Moss is on pace to catch 78 passes for 1291 yards and 14 touchdowns.
  • In his last four games, Moss has caught 27 passes for 474 yards and 6 touchdowns.
  • WR Curtis Conway is getting a lot of looks in the last three weeks (24 targets) but has only 9 receptions (37.5%)
  • In his first two games as the starter, Chad Pennington has thrown 6 touchdowns against only 2 interceptions.
  • RB Curtis Martin hasn't scored in nine straight football games to start this season. That is his worst start to a season in his career.

Oakland Raiders

  • The Raiders carried the ball 52 times last week against the Jets and passed only 25 times.
  • QB Rick Mirer had a good game last week albeit conservative. He completed 72.0 % of his throws for 186 yards and a score.
  • The Jerry Rice watch continues. He still hasn't score a touchdown pass this season and the streak is now up to 13 straight games without a touchdown reception.
  • RB Tyrone Wheatley had 23 carries this past week against the Jets. That was his most carries since the 2000 season.

Philadelphia Eagles

  • Donovan McNabb has faced the Giants six times as a starter. He has averaged 161.3 yards passing per game. He has also averaged 46.6 rushing yards per game.
  • In his first six games, McNabb completed only 91 of his 190 passes (47.9%) for 854 yards and 2 touchdowns against 6 interceptions.
  • In the last three games, McNabb has completed 53 of his 87 passes (60.9%) for 651 yards and 3 touchdowns against 1 interception.
  • WR Freddie Mitchell is beginning to catch the ball. He has caught 7 of the last 9 passes thrown his way.
  • RB Duce Staley matched his season-high total for carries this past weekend with 10 and rushing yardage with 53.
  • RB Correll Buckhalter only had 9 carries last week after racking up 38 carries in the prior two weeks.

Pittsburgh Steelers

  • In his last five games, QB Tommy Maddox has only thrown for 862 yards (172.4 yards per game).
  • Maddox has thrown 6 touchdown passes in the last three contests.
  • WR Plaxico Burress is M.I.A. In his last seven starts he has only caught 22 passes for 286 yards with no touchdown receptions.
  • Burress has only caught 8 of the last 21 passes thrown his way (38.1%)
  • WR Hines Ward on the other hand has been great. He is on pace to catch 107 passes for 1275 yards and a dozen scores.
  • RB Jerome Bettis has been getting lots of touches but not much production. He has 61 carries in the last four games but for only 180 rushing yards.
  • RB Amos Zereoue hasn't been getting many touches. He only has 14 carries in the last three games for 60 yards.

San Diego Chargers

  • RB LaDainian Tomlinson is playing well despite the Chargers' woes. He is on pace to finish with 1675 rushing yards, 580 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.
  • Tomlinson has scored at least one touchdown in six of his last seven games.
  • In five games against the Broncos, Tomlinson has rushed for 494 yards, caught 27 passes for 159 yards and scored 3 touchdowns.
    • Tomlinson has actually only scored in one game against the Broncos. It was last year's game when he rushed for 220 yards and scored 3 times.
  • WR David Boston has had four games with 5 or more receptions this year.
  • Boston has caught 17 of the last 28 passes thrown his way (60.7%)
  • In QB Drew Brees' last three starts, he threw for 313 yards, had 5.0 YPA and threw no touchdowns against 5 interceptions.
  • In QB Doug Flutie's first start , he threw for 248 yards, had a 8.55 YPA and threw 2 touchdowns with no interceptions.

San Francisco 49ers

  • The two-headed monster at RB (Hearst/Barlow) continues to do well. They are on pace for 1817 rushing yards on the season.
  • RB Garrison Hearst is on pace to rush for 1058 yards, catch 34 passes for 331 yards and score 7 touchdowns.
  • RB Kevan Barlow is on pace to rush for 759 Yards, catch 27 passes for 233 yards and score 2 touchdowns.
  • WR Terrell Owens is having a quiet season (for him). He is on pace to catch 85 passes for 1131 yards and score 7 touchdowns.

Seattle Seahawks

  • The Seahawks are 5-0 at home this season.
  • RB Shaun Alexander has had 20 or more carries in five straight games but hasn't had more than 24 carries in a game all season.
  • Alexander is on pace to rush for 1289 yards, to catch 48 passes for 331 yards and to score 16 touchdowns.
  • WR Darrell Jackson has only caught 15 of the 33 passes thrown his way (45.5%)
  • WR Bobby Engram has caught 12 of the last 13 passes thrown his way (92.3%)

St. Louis Rams

  • The Rams scored 33 points last week against the Ravens while gaining only 121 yards of net offense. That was a weird game.
  • WR Torry Holt finally struggled with only 3 receptions against the Ravens for 38 yards. He is still on pace for 1806 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns.
  • In his last two games, QB Marc Bulger has only thrown 1 touchdown pass against 4 interceptions.
  • Bulger had his worst game as a starter last week, completing only 50% of his passes for 110 yards and 2 interceptions.
  • In his first game back, RB Marshall Faulk found the endzone twice despite only gaining 48 yards on 20 carries and 6 yards on 3 receptions.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • QB Brad Johnson has completed less than 60 % of his passes in three straight football games.
  • Johnson has 6 interceptions in the last four games.
  • WR Keenan McCardell is on pace for 1243 yards and 11 touchdowns.
  • McCardell has caught at least one touchdown in four of the last six games.
  • McCardell has emerged as the # 1 receiver. He has been targeted 35 times in the last three weeks.
  • In the last two weeks, WR Keyshawn Johnson has caught 15 passes for 204 yards.
  • RB Michael Pittman is on pace to catch 82 passes and to gain 1000 yards rushing.

Tennessee Titans

  • QB Steve McNair continues to make a strong push to become the NFL's Most Valuable Player in 2003. He is on pace to…
    • pass for 3874 yards
    • complete 65.9% of his passes
    • average 8.55 YPA
    • throw 27 touchdown passes against only 5 interceptions
  • Watch out for rookie WR Tyrone Calico. He has caught a touchdown in two straight games.
  • RB Eddie George still hasn't finish one game this season with a YPC of more than 3.4

Washington Redskins

  • After three straight 100-yard games to start the season, WR Laveranues Coles fell on hard times. Last week however he gained 125 yards on 5 receptions.
  • Coles is on pace to catch 91 passes for 1392 yards this season.
  • The Redskins have lost their last three road games.
  • After a hot start, QB Patrick Ramsey has only averaged 186.7 passing yards per game in the last six contests.
