questionable for this weekend with his injured finger.

QB Michael Vick (Atl) did not practice on Wednesday and is listed as
questionable for this weekend with his injured throwing shoulder.
Early word is that it's not a serious injury but it might keep him out
of this week's game. "Mike's fine," head coach Jim Mora said Monday.
"His shoulder is sore, but nothing is structurally wrong."

Vick reportedly wants to play. Head coach Jim Mora agrees, but he
indicated the team will wait another two days to see if Vick's left
shoulder heals quickly. "If he's ready to play, he's going to play,"
Mora said Wednesday. "Yeah. Absolutely. We'll just re-evaluate where
he is and see how he feels. I don't think that he'll practice
tomorrow, but we'd like to get him out there throwing some on Friday
and then we'll see where he is."

Regardless of Vick's status, Mora envisions seeing plenty of backup QB
Matt Schaub over the next two weeks. The Falcons end the regular
season Jan. 2 at Seattle. "Whether it's this week or next week or half
a game or a whole game, that's to be determined," Mora said. "But
Matt's going to get some time."

*** FRIDAY UPDATE *** QB Michael Vick (Atl) did not practice on
Thursday but hopes to get some work in on Friday.  In related news,
Vick has signed a ten-year contract with the team worth more than $100
million and including an NFL-record $37 million in bonuses.

Coach Jim Mora was asked about backup QB Matt Schaub playing this
week:  "If Matt ends up being the guy who plays for us this week, I
think that'll be a great experience for him," the coach explained.
"Obviously, it was neat for him to go and play in the preseason games,
but this is a big-time game for both of us, especially for them with
the fact that they've got the playoffs on the line. They'll be
bringing it and I would be anxious to see how he responds if he does
play."

Asked if Vick doesn't play this weekend, how important it might be to
get him back into the mix against Seattle the following week, Mora
said: "Very important. I expect, whether [Vick, Crumpler and Duckett]
play or not this week, I expect them all to be back for Seattle and we
will play to win at Seattle. We have a lot of things to work on and
you need to keep your edge. And the only real way you do that is
playing games. ... My early indications right now are they should all
be just fine for Seattle and you know, we're crossing our fingers that
one or two of them are ready this week."

*** FRIDAY UPDATE *** QB Michael Vick (Atl) was limited on Friday and
remains questionable for this weekend. ESPN's John Clayton is
reporting that Vick will likely sit this one out.

QB Carson Palmer (Cin) did not practice on Wednesday and is listed as
questionable for this weekend with his injured knee. He did reportedly
have a little more range of motion after Wednesday's treatment and is
scheduled to see his doctor again Friday.

Jon Kitna would start again if Palmer can't go. Kitna had this to say,
"He's probably a little frustrated because I think it started to get
better for him early, the first couple of days, and maybe it hasn't
progressed quite as quickly lately," Kitna said Wednesday. "But he's
going to be fine. The good thing is that his last part of the season,
he has a lot of good memories to draw from if he doesn't get the
chance to play the rest of the year."

*** FRIDAY UPDATE *** QB Carson Palmer (Cin) did not practice on
Thursday and remains questionable for this weekend. Palmer also said a
possible matchup with New York quarterback Eli Manning is not enticing
in itself. Palmer and rookie Manning were No. 1 overall draft choices
in consecutive years. "That's not my reasoning for wanting to play,"
Palmer said of the playoffs. "My reasoning is I need to play. I want
to be out there. It's fun."

*** FRIDAY UPDATE *** QB Carson Palmer (Cin) did not practice on
Friday and has been downgraded to doubtful for this weekend.  Jon
Kitna is expected to start for the team.

*** FRIDAY UPDATE *** QB Jeff Garcia (Cle) says he is open to
returning to the Browns in 2005.  "I'm under contract here for three
more years, and I want to stay," says Garcia.  "I understand that a
general manager and new coach will come in and have their own
thoughts, but if they feel I can help the team, I'll be happy to do
it.  And if it means I have to adjust some things, I'd be happy to do
that, too.  But if they don't feel I fit what they need, then I can
handle it.  But I know I'll be playing football somewhere next year."

QB Kelly Holcomb (Cle) practiced on Wednesday but is listed as
questionable for this weekend with his injured ribs.  If Holcomb is
cleared to play, he could be the team's starter.

"We just want to try to get him as good as we can for Sunday," HC Mike
Holmgren said. "So we gave him the day off. It was good work for

QB Marc Bulger (StL) is expected to play this weekend despite his
injured shoulder.

*** FRIDAY UPDATE *** QB Marc Bulger (StL) practiced on Thursday and
will start this weekend. "I'm 100 percent." Bulger said. Head coach
Mike Martz said playing would be a matter of pain tolerance. "There's
nothing structurally that's going to further damage him from a joint
or bone standpoint," Martz said. "To the point where he can put up
with it, he'll stay in the game I'm sure. … He feels strong and
obviously he's excited about being back in the lineup. Of course,
we're very pleased to have him back, a big plus."

ankle, and ruled himself out, adding he might not be ready to return
unless the Bills make the playoffs. "What do you want to talk to me
for? I ain't playing," Henry said. "I'm still rehabbing."

RB McGahee (Buf) did not practice on Wednesday and is listed as
questionable for this weekend with his injured knee. He's hopeful he
can play this weekend. In a telephone conference call with San
Francisco-area reporters later in the day, McGahee said he was "pretty
sure," when asked of his chances of playing against the 49ers. "I just
know that I've got to contribute," he said.

If McGahee and Henry can't play, Mularkey said he'll go with Shaud
Williams or Joe Burns.

*** FRIDAY UPDATE *** RB Willis McGahee (Buf) did not practice on
Thursday and remains questionable for this weekend. Travis Henry
worked out in individual drills but likely won't be available. Henry
said he was not playing earlier this week. Shaud Williams took the
reps with the first team in practice. Williams is a rookie undrafted
free agent who has 72 yards rushing and a touchdown in two games. The
Bills also have Joe Burns, primarily a blocking back, and Dante Brown,
who was signed off Cleveland's practice squad this week.
