Quarterbacks

QB Joey Harrington (Det) could possibly be released by the team later
next month according to Tom Kowalski of Mlive.com.  According to
Kowalski, team president Matt Millen wants to stick with Harrington,
but the offensive coaches want to cut ties and go in another
direction.  Harrington's contract calls for a $3 million roster bonus
this offseason and almost $5 million in salary for the 2005 season.
However, the Lions organization says there is no truth to the report.

QB Quincy Carter (NYJ) was excused from Wednesday's practice for
personal reasons, but he is expected to be available to play this
weekend.

QB Chad Pennington (NYJ) was sent home from practice on Wednesday but
is expected to play this weekend despite having the flu.  "I'm not a
doctor, but I would be shocked if (Pennington) didn't play", says HC
Herman Edwards.

QB Ben Roethlisberger (Pit) will donate his $18,000 playoff game check
to aid in the relief of the tsunami victims.


Running Backs RB James Mungro (Ind) did not practice on Wednesday but is expected to play this weekend despite his injured toe. RB Moe Williams (Min) did not practice on Wednesday and is not expected to play this weekend due to his injured ankle. RB Kevin Faulk (NE) did not practice fully on Wednesday and is questionable for this weekend with his injured knee. RB Jerome Bettis (Pit) practiced on Wednesday and is expected to play this weekend despite his injured ankle. The team will announce their starting RB on game-day. RB Verron Haynes (Pit) practiced on Wednesday and is expected to play this weekend despite his injured knee. RB Duce Staley (Pit) practiced on Wednesday and is expected to play this weekend despite his injured hamstring. The team will announce their starting RB on game-day. Other DC Romeo Crennel (NE) is reportedly the leading candidate to become the next HC of the Cleveland Browns. However, the Browns can not speak to Crennel until the Patriots are out of the playoffs. HC Mike Holmgren (Sea) says he will return to the team for the 2005 season.
