San Francisco 49ers (@ NY Jets)

  • QB Tim Rattay is beginning to put up big numbers.  He is completing 64.4% of his throws, has a YPA of 6.6 and has thrown 6 touchdowns against 2 picks
  • RB Kevan Barlow has been a disappointment.  He is on pace to carry the ball 250 times for 922 yards, catch 45 passes and score 6 touchdowns
  • Finally there was a Brandon Lloyd sighting.  He caught 5 receptions for 56 yards and a touchdown last week and fantasy owners thankfully removed his picture from the side of their milk cartons
  • TE Eric Johnson is having a ridiculous season.  He is on pace to catch 131 passes for 1,472 yards and score 6 touchdowns.  Fantasy MVP?  Perhaps not but certainly he has to be a strong candidate for S.O.D.  (Steal of draft)

Seattle Seahawks (@ New England)

  • The Seahawks haven’t won their first three road games since the 1980 season (won first four on road but only finished 4-12)
  • The Seahawks are 7-6 lifetime against the Patriots
  • These teams haven’t faced each other since 1993
  • The Seahawks defense is 2nd in interceptions, 3rd in YPA, 1st in rushing yards surrendered and 4th in rushing touchdowns surrendered
  • The Seahawks offense is 24th in the NFL in total yardage
  • QB Matt Hasselbeck is on pace to throw for 3,452 yards and 24 touchdowns against 8 interceptions
  • RB Shaun Alexander is on pace to rush for 1,528 yards and score 28 touchdowns
  • WR Koren Robinson is on pace to catch only 52 passes and 4 touchdowns on the season
  • WR Darrell Jackson is on pace to catch 96 passes and score 4 touchdowns on the season
  • The tight end position has accounted for only eleven receptions this season
  • Hasselbeck hasn’t had a 300-yard passing game yet this season or a 3-touchdown passing game
  • Alexander has scored 3 touchdowns in a game twice already this season

St. Louis Rams (vs. Tampa Bay)

  • The Rams are 10-6 lifetime against the Buccaneers
  • The Rams have won 15 of the past 16 games at home
  • QB Marc Bulger is completing 66.3% of his passes and is on pace to throw for 4,563 yards this season
  • RB Stephen Jackson is averaging 6.9 yards per carry on 27 attempts this season
  • RB Marshall Faulk is on pace to rush for 1,165 yards and catch 54 passes
  • WR Isaac Bruce is on pace to catch 122 passes this season
  • WR Torry Holt is on pace to catch 96 passes this season
  •  The combination of Shaun McDonald and Kevin Curtis have caught the same number of touchdowns this season as the combination of Bruce/Holt
  • The tight end position has accounted for only seven receptions this season
  • The Rams have scored 82 points in the last three games
  • Bulger has thrown for more than 300 yards in two of the last three games
  • Bruce has caught 6+ passes in every game this year

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (@ St. Louis)

  • The Buccaneers are only 6-10 lifetime against the Rams
  • The Buccaneers have only won two of the last eight road games
  • QB Brian Griese completed 84.2% of his throws last week in his first action as a Buccaneer
  • WR Michael Clayton leads the Buccaneers in receptions.  He is on pace to catch 74 passes in this, his rookie season
  • The Buccaneers do not have a rushing touchdown yet in 2004
  • The Buccaneers offense is 26th in yards per carry, 28th in rushing yards and last in rushing touchdowns
  • The Buccaneers offense has only scored 4 touchdowns in five games this season
  • The Buccaneers defense is only giving up 5.33 YPA on the season

Tennessee Titans (vs. Houston)

  • The Titans have never lost to the Texans
  • The Titans have only won one of the last four divisional games
  • The Titans haven’t opened a season with three straight losses at home since the 1995 season (in Houston)
  • RB Chris Brown is on pace to rush for 1,779 yards on 342 carries and score 13 touchdowns
  • Brown has hit 100-rushing yards in four of the five games he has played
  • QB Steve McNair is only averaging 173.8 passing yards per game in his four starts

  • The Titans offense is ranked 2nd in rushing yards, 3rd in yards per carry and 5th in rushing touchdowns
  • The Titans defense is ranked 7th in passing yards surrendered but dead last in yards given up per carry
  • In three games against the Texans, Mason has caught 14 passes for 268 yards and 4 touchdowns
  • In four games against the Texans, McNair has thrown for 946 yards and 7 touchdowns

Washington Redskins (@ Chicago)

  • The Redskins are 17-21-1 lifetime against the Bears
  • The Redskins have lost eight of the last nine road games
  • The Redskins defense leads the NFL in yards given up per carry (only 2.83 on the season)
  • The Redskins defense is ranked 5th overall on the season when it comes to yards surrendered
  • RB Clinton Portis is struggling.  He is only averaging 3.6 yards per carry
  • Since his terrific week one debut, Portis has carried the ball 88 times for 274 yards (3.1 YPC) and 2 scores
  • WR Laveranues Coles is on pace to catch 86 passes for 1,0.11 yards but hasn’t scored yet
  • The Redskins have only scored 7 offensive touchdowns in five games this season
  • QB Mark Brunell has had two games with less than 100 passing yards (week two and week five)
  • Last season with the Broncos, Portis rushed for 100+ yards ten times.  This year he has reached that magic number once in five games
  • Coles has had two 100-yard receiving efforts this season
