Monday Injury Report - Week 13

Quarterbacks

Carolina's Jake Delhomme played most of the game on Sunday despite a hairline fracture on his throwing-hand thumb.

Chicago's Craig Krenzel injured his right foot in the game on Thanksgiving - the problem is serious enough that the team is going to be forced to go with Chad Hutchinson this week - the Bears also signed 36 year old Jeff George as veteran "insurance" on Monday.

Cleveland's Jeff Garcia was sidelined for the game on Sunday due to his shoulder injury. Kelly Holcomb threw 5 TDs in course of a 48-58 loss to Cincinnati.

Dallas' Vinny Testaverde returned to the helm as the Cowboy's #1 QB despite his sore shoulder - Drew Henson was benched at half-time due to typical rookie struggles.

Jacksonville's Byron Leftwich played in the game vs. Minnesota wearing a knee brace on his injured limb. He was worried prior to the game about the bulky brace limiting his mobility but he seemed to be fine.

Miami's QB A.J. Feeley dislocated his right middle finger during the game on Sunday, but continued play after a few snaps passed while he was on the sidelines getting the finger yanked back into joint. Jay Fiedler was sent to IR this past week due to his shoulder/neck stinger, which forced Sage Rosenfels into the relief role while Feeley was sidelined.

New York Jets' Chad Pennington missed the game on Sunday, as expected (shoulder, out). Quincy Carter suffered a head injury/concussion during the game, and was briefly sidelined before returning to action.

Seattle's Matt Hasselbeck returned to the starting lineup despite the "charley horse" injury that kept him sidelined last week.

Tampa Bay's Brian Griese suffered a hip flexor injury early in the game, and will be limited in practice this week. The team describes him as probable for the next game.

Tennessee's Steve McNair took a pounding again on Sunday, and afterward hinted that this may be his last NFL season. While there is no specific information on his bumps and bruises, it was clear that McNair was playing through pain at points during the contest on Sunday.

Running Backs

Arizona's Emmitt Smith suffered a left big toe/left ankle injury early in the game on Sunday and did not return to action. The early indications are that Smith will miss at least a week due to his injuries. Troy Hambrick went on IR Wednesday due to a torn foot ligament, and is done for the season so it'll be Larry Croom and Josh Scobey at RB.

Atlanta's FB Justin Griffith missed the game on Sunday due to his injured knee.

Baltimore's Jamal Lewis' ankle injury is worse than initially diagnosed last week, and he missed the game on Sunday as a result of the problem Watch this week for more news on how long he'll be out as some are speculating it could be a couple of weeks. Nothing is definitive as of today though. (Chester Taylor was the starter in Lewis' absence. The team got drilled by New England 24-3). Musa Smith is out due to surgery to repair a badly broken leg.

Buffalo's Travis Henry broke his leg in the game on Sunday and is likely to be sidelined for the rest of the season. Fellow RB Willis McGahee turned an ankle during the game, but returned to action after having the injury taped.

Carolina's Brad Hoover (hip, questionable) missed the game on Sunday due to his injury.

Cleveland's Lee Suggs (toe injury, questionable on Friday's injury report) was inactive for the game on Sunday.

Dallas' Richie Anderson was inactive on Thursday due to the concussion he suffered in week 11.

On Sunday, Houston's Tony Hollings aggravated the sore hamstring that had sidelined him for two previous games. The severity of the re-injury isn't currently known - Hollings has struggled to stay on the field this season.

Minnesota's Mewelde Moore was inactive for the game on Sunday despite being listed as probable on Friday (ankle).

New York Giants' RB Derrick Ward (concussion, questionable) missed the game on Sunday. Tiki Barber needed stitches to close a gash on his shin, but returned to action later in the game vs. Philadelphia.

Oakland's Tyrone Wheatley suffered a hamstring injury on Sunday - the initial diagnosis is that the injury is "serious". Wheatley's comment was "I don't know if it's torn, but it feels like it could be."

Philadelphia's RB Reno Mahe (knee, out) missed the game on Sunday as expected.

Pittsburgh's Duce Staley missed the game on Sunday due to his injured hamstring - he was held out after being listed as questionable on Friday. Jerome Bettis had his 4th 100 yard rushing game in relief of Staley, allowing the Steelers the luxury of allowing Staley to return to 100% before inserting him back into the starting lineup. The rough field conditions in Pittsburgh were a factor.

Tennessee's Chris Brown was active on Sunday, but did not play due to his lingering turf-toe injury. Antowain Smith ran well in relief of Brown, bowling over several defenders with his bulldozing style.

Washington's Clinton Portis suffered what is characterized as "a minor pinched nerve" in the game on Sunday. The injury is not considered serious at this time - but it could be a small factor in why Portis yielded carries to Ladell Betts Sunday. Although the bigger reasons were that Portis was ineffective and the field conditions favored the power running style of Betts more.

Wide Receivers

Arizona's Nate Poole (groin, not listed on Friday's injury report) was inactive on Sunday.

Buffalo's Josh Reed (knee, questionable on Friday's injury report) missed the game on Sunday. He's been sidelined for several weeks due to this injury.

He didn't remember his scoring catch or many other details from the game. T.J. Houshmandzadeh suffered a chest/rib injury that knocked his wind out - Houshmandzadeh returned to action shortly thereafter, though.

Cleveland's WR Andre King missed the game due to his injured ankle - a "high" ankle sprain that he's been struggling with for weeks (questionable on Friday's injury report). Fellow WR Andre Davis also missed the game on Sunday (toe, questionable).

Indianapolis' WRs Troy Walters (broken arm) was inactive for the game on Thursday, as usual.

Minnesota's Randy Moss played in the game on Sunday despite not being 100% recovered from his partially torn hamstring. He was clearly limited but he did haul in a TD and grab 4 passes for 40 yards on the day, though.

New Orleans' Michael Lewis (ankle, doubtful) was inactive for the game on Sunday.

New York Jets' WR Jerricho Cotchery missed the game on Sunday due to his injured hamstring (questionable on Friday).

Oakland's G Ron Stone (knee, out) missed the game on Sunday, as expected.
