Quarterbacks
Arizona's John Navarre missed the game on Sunday due to his finger injury,
as expected (doubtful). Josh McCown led the team to a victory over St. Louis
- he looks like he's solidified his hold on the top job again over the last
2 weeks.
Cincinnati's Carson Palmer (sprained MCL in the left knee, questionable) missed
the game on Sunday due to his injury. Jon Kitna did not manage to pull out a
victory in relief of Palmer (16/32 for 151 yards, 1 TD and 2 interceptions).
Cleveland's Kelly Holcomb was inactive due to his broken ribs, despite being
listed as questionable on Friday.
Green Bay's Brett Favre bruised his left wrist during the game on Sunday, but
stayed in action after taping the injury. The injury is not considered serious
at this time.
Jacksonville's Byron Leftwich limped visibly during the game vs. Green Bay,
but stayed in the lineup. He also bruised his left wrist during the game but
remained in (X-rays were negative and he appears to be fine).
New York Giant's QB Eli Manning tweaked his right ankle - it was wrapped after
the game but is not considered serious at this time.
San Francisco's Tim Rattay is headed for IR due to a partially torn plantar
fascia in his injured foot. His injury-riddled season is over - Ken Dorsey will
pilot the 49ers during the final stages of their 2004 crash-landing.
St. Louis' Marc Bulger's injured right shoulder sidelined him on Sunday (questionable).
Backup Chris Chandler was horrible in the early going, so Jamie Martin ended
up under center most of the day.
Seattle's Matt Hasselbeck injured his right elbow in the game on Sunday, and
could not continue play. X-rays were taken and further evaluations are planned
for today.
Tennessee's Steve McNair did not play on Sunday due to his sternum injury.
Billy Volek was 8 yards shy of 500 yards passing in the game in relief of McNair.
Running Backs
Arizona's Emmitt Smith suffered a migraine headache during the game vs. St.
Louis, but returned to action. His status will be reviewed as the week goes
along. His injured toe was also hurting after the game - Smith stated after
the game that the toe won't be fully healed until after the season.
Atlanta's FB Justin Griffith is now on IR due to the ankle injury sustained
last week. New starting FB Stanley Pritchett injured his right hand in the game
on Saturday, had the hand put in a cast, and returned to the game. The severity
of the injury is being further evaluated. T.J. Duckett was inactive as expected
(knee surgery).
Baltimore's Jamal Lewis' ankle injury didn't keep him out of the game vs. Indianapolis,
but he was visibly limping at points and split time with backup Chester Taylor
during the game.
Buffalo's Travis Henry missed the game on Sunday due to his leg/ankle injury
(out on Friday's injury report). Willis McGahee twisted his right knee and missed
the final quarter of the Bill's victory on Sunday. He did return to action for
a short time after the injury, but then was held out because the knee didn't
feel "100%". He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along - an
update on the hyper-extended knee and bruised knee is expected Wednesday. The
injury is not to his surgically repaired knee, contrary to earlier reports.
Rookie free agent Shaud Williams is next on the depth chart, followed by third-year
veteran Joe Burns (assuming that Henry can't play due to his injured leg). Drew
Rosenhaus commented on Monday after hearing an update on the injury: "It's
great news. It's not something that will keep him out an extended period of
time, but we don't know about this week. That's something they're going to have
to determine later on in the week."
Carolina's reserve RB Casey Cramer (concussion, doubtful) missed the game on
Sunday due to his injury.
Chicago's FB/RB Bryan Johnson (foot, questionable) was inactive for the game
on Sunday.
Cleveland's Lee Suggs returned to action this week, with 21/105/0 in the Browns'
0-21 loss to San Diego.
Cincinnati's Chris Perry (abdomen, questionable) missed the game on Sunday,
as he has for many weeks. Reports indicate that he aggravated the injury during
the week, and the team is going to send him to a new specialist for a second
opinion, as the injury is not healing properly.
Denver's Tatum Bell played on Sunday despite his separated shoulder "It
hurt, but I just tried to deal with it." - Bell's comment on the injury
after the game (9 carries for 50 yards, 1/58/0 receiving with a lost fumble
at the end of the 58 yard reception). FB Kyle Johnson injured his ankle in the
game vs. K.C. X-Rays were negative, but a MRI is scheduled for Monday to determine
if there is ligament damage in the joint.
Houston's Tony Hollings (hamstring, out) missed another game on Sunday due
to his nagging injury.
Kansas City's Derrick Blaylock (knee, questionable) missed the game on Sunday
due to his injury.
New York Giant's RB Derrick Ward missed the game on Sunday due to his injured
ankle (questionable on Friday).
Oakland's Tyrone Wheatley missed the game on Sunday due to his hamstring/foot
injuries, as expected (out).
Philadelphia's RB Reno Mahe (ankle/knee, questionable) was inactive on Sunday.
He hasn't been active for several weeks due to this injury.
Pittsburgh's Duce Staley missed the game on Sunday due to his hamstring injury
(questionable on Friday's injury report).
San Francisco's Kevan Barlow (concussion, ) was active and played in a backup
role Sunday - after the game, coach Erickson indicated that Barlow would be
re-inserted into the starting lineup this week (Maurice Hicks managed 11/37/0
vs. Washington on Sunday).
St. Louis' Steven Jackson was active but did not play vs. Arizona. Coach Martz
insisted that Jackson was healthy: "He was healthy. They blitzed us just
about every snap the first half, and you need to have a guy in there that kind
of knows what's going on. We felt like with the blitz pickups, that we could
use Marshall in some of the pass routes."
Tennessee's Chris Brown's season is over - coach Fisher stated on Sunday: "We're
going to shut him down for the rest of the year. We're just going to let him
try and get healthy." An official announcement is expected on Monday.
Wide Receivers
Atlanta's Brian Finneran suffered a left ankle injury during the game on Saturday,
but returned to action after being attended to by the team's trainers.
Detroit's Eddie Drummond (shoulder, out) missed the game on Sunday, as expected.
Roy Williams struggled to play through a hip injury on Sunday, and managed to
contribute on several series despite the injury.
Green Bay's WR Robert Ferguson was hospitalized after being "clothes-lined"
by Jaguar DB Donovan Darius on Sunday. Darius was ejected from the game after
the hit. He was unconscious for some time after the hit - head coach Mike Sherman
said : "On the field, it looked serious, and it still is serious. He gained
movement in his lower extremities, which he didn't have when he left the building,
so that's good news." Ferguson will be evaluated further as the week goes
along - it would be a big surprise to see him playing in the game vs. Minnesota.
He remained in the hospital on Monday afternoon and will stay in the hospital
for another night on Monday.
Houston's J.J. Moses suffered an ankle injury during the game on Sunday and
could not continue to return punts.

on Sunday - which he did.

out).
Oakland's WR John Stone (hamstring, probable) was inactive for the game on
Sunday.
Philadelphia's Terrell Owens suffered a very high ankle sprain and a stress
fracture to his fibula. He'll have surgery Wednesday and will miss at least
4-5 weeks. The team is saying there is an "outside" chance Owens could
be available for the Super Bowl if the Eagles were to make it that far. Todd
Pinkston tweaked his knee during the game, but returned to action. Freddie Mitchell
tweaked his quadriceps in the game - all 3 top Eagles' receivers were limping
when the game was over.
Pittsburgh's Plaxico Burress (hamstring, out) was inactive on Sunday. Reports
out of Pittsburgh on Monday indicate that Burress will probably not be back
on the field until the NFL playoffs, as the hamstring continues to be a problem
(and it is healing slowly). Said Burress: "I'm not worried about being
out for the regular season, at all. My goal is to be healthy for the playoffs.
If it causes me to miss these last few games and get the bye week, that gives
me three more weeks to get even better. It doesn't hurt me to sit out any longer,
because the longer I sit out, the better I'm going to get. And the closer I
get to 100 percent, the better our football team is going to get with me in.
Hopefully, I can get out there next week. That's my plan." Hines Ward injured
his hip early in the game on Sunday, and had a pain-killing injection in order
to stay in the game. His status for the next game is not yet known.
San Diego's Keenan McCardell (hamstring, questionable) and Tim Dwight (toe,
questionable) were both inactive for the snow-bound game on Sunday.

Washington's TE Chris Cooley strained a calf in the game on Saturday - the
injury isn't considered serious.
Place Kickers
Washington's John Hall has been placed on IR due to his latest injury (quadriceps).
Ola Kimrin couldn't get a visa fast enough to sub for Hall (he's in Sweden)
- the team is relying on former 49er Jeff Chandler to do the job now.
Punters
No significant injuries to note this week.
Offensive Linemen
Arizona's OT Leonard Davis has a torn meniscus in his left knee that will require
surgery to correct - he is currently playing through the injury, though that
might change. "I don't really know. I take it day by day. If I have to,
maybe do what I did before (and limit practice work). We'll just have to see."
Buffalo's C/LS Jon Dorenbos (knee, questionable) missed the game on Sunday
due to his injury.
