FIRST PLAYOFF MEETING since Super Bowl III (Jets 16, Baltimore Colts 7)…… Teams played in AFC East from 1970-2001……Colts head coach TONY DUNGY & Jets head coach HERMAN EDWARDS overlapped tenures at Kansas City from 1990-91, Dungy as defensive coordinator & Edwards as scout before promotion to defensive backs coach in 1994.  When named head coach of Tampa Bay (1996), Dungy hired Edwards to become Buccaneers assistant head coach/defensive backs coach (1996-2000).  Edwards was hired by Jets after 2000 season.
