WR Darrell Jackson (Sea)

Highest Ranking #12 by David Dodds
Repeat after me. Mike Holmgren teams love to throw TD passes. And now that the Seahawks have been lifted from the AFC West and placed in the same division as the Rams and 49ers (NFC West), Mike will get a lot of opportunity to prove my theorem.

Now let's look at the player:

In his rookie season, Darrell caught 53 passes for 713 yards and 6 TDs. This was good enough to be the 33rd best WR that year. Last season, Darrell caught 70 passes for 1,081 yards and 8 TDs. That was good enough for 16th best in the league. Notice the trend upward in receptions, yards and TDs.

And Darrell Jackson did this despite the Seahawks being terrible in the passing game. Their 2,828 yards was good for only 27th in the league. Mike Holmgren wanted to believe Matt Hasselbeck was ready to play in the NFL (He wasn't). Koren Robinson, a rookie last season that could turn heads this year, was playing through injuries all year. So virtually every passing down saw Darrell Jackson double teamed. And despite this, he increased his totals in catches, yards and TDs.

I have him at 12 in the rankings and that might be too low. The sky is the limit for this kid and it starts this season. Don't be surprised when Darrell Jackson is a top 5-10 receiver this year.

Jackson is a player I like as a serviceable 2nd receiver on my fantasy squad or a fantastic # 3. Some people have him ranked as a serviceable 1st option at receiver though and I simply do not see that. The Seahawks have been actively looking for a veteran receiver much like Antonio Freeman to take the pressure off of the young Hawks and that would certainly take some receptions away from Jackson. Also, young Koren Robinson is more skilled than Jackson and he will have a much more successful sophomore season than he did as a rookie. I have Jackson slated for 1050 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns. He'll be good this year but I don't expect him to be great.
