WR Eric Moulds (Buf)
High Side (#6) by Dave Shick
There are tons of talented players in the NFL who only need the right
situation to be considered special. Moulds is one of them. With Bledsoe
in town, Moulds is primed to have a huge year. Coach Williams and Gilbride
have publicly announced that Moulds is their premiere player. Gilbride
has not been shy when referring to Moulds as the go to guy.
I don't see any of the Buffalo running backs separating themselves
from the pack and becoming a dominate every down back. Buffalo will have
to go to the air and when Bledsoe is forced to chuck it, Moulds will be
his number one target..
Low Side (#14) by Tony Holm
Eric Moulds has managed to disappoint season after season after
season. To think Drew Bledsoe is going to walk into their system and change
Moulds into a Top 10 receiver over night is crazy talk. Eric Moulds is
always over hyped as he has yet to match his traditionally high draft
position. Ask anyone who has drafted Eric Moulds in the past and they'll
tell you he hurt their team. Putting him in my Top 15 is already a stretch
as that puts him in the top half of the NFL #1 WRs but because there is
always upside with the guy, I'll plunk him in the middle of the NFL's
#1 WRs as he has yet to show he is truly capable of superstar status.
Moulds has to face some very tough secondaries this season which will
make the going tough for him.
Drew Bledsoe has a new system to learn and while most are
declaring the second coming of Jim Kelly in Buffalo, you should understand
that Bledsoe will go through growing pains which will hurt Moulds. The
Patriots were a passing team and the Bills will be more of a balanced
team, so expect Bledsoe's attempts and completions to go down from what
you may be accustomed to. Bledsoe is going to need the extra second or
two to make a read and if the Bills line can't hold (they're not expected
to have a good O-Line) Bledsoe will be spending some time on his backside.
I just don't see Moulds having the breakout year everyone keeps waiting
for with the current team and existing familiarity level..
