WR Joe Horn (NO) Highest Ranking: #6 by Scott
Luebke Throughout the last two seasons, Horn has been one of the most productive wide receivers in the NFL. With a rising young star at quarterback, look for this trend to continue in 2002. Let's take a look at his stat line:
Keep in mind, because of some early troubles in 2001 by inexperienced Aaron Brooks, Horn started the season slowly. Throughout his first 5 games, Horn averaged 57 yards per game and scored 0 touchdowns. Don't look for a slow start this season as Brooks has gained more experience and has showed drastic improvement throughout 2001, especially in the red zone. With Ricky Williams gone, look for the Saints to focus on more of an aeriel attack, which is one reason they drafted rookie receive Donte Stallworth. The talented Stallworth and free agent acquisition Jerome Pathon will help take coverage away from Horn. Let's not forget that Horn was double covered heavily throughout last season. The sky is the limit for Brooks and Horn. Look for the two of them to connect more often, which will result in a career year by Horn. Chemistry is always a main concern when drafting a wide receiver. Brooks and Horn have built a quality relationship, which will reward fantasy owners who jump on the Horn bandwagon. Lowest Ranking: #14 by Chris Smith I believe Pathon and Stallworth both have the potential to catch 40 to 50 passes apiece which will deflect from Horn's numbers just enough to have him outside the top 10. Personally, I think that players such as Chris Chambers, Keyshawn Johnson, Jimmy Smith, Plaxico Burress, Isaac Bruce and Tim Brown (ranked #8-#13 on my sheet) are going to edge him out in 2002. |
