Players in the News (Posted and Mailed)

http://footballguys.com/week16bnews.htm (Thursday, Friday, Saturday)

Everybody has the news, but Footballguys.com made sure all offensive skill positions listed on the injury report appear in our news.  This remains one of our most popular features.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Offensive Cheatsheet – (Posted and Mailed)

http://footballguys.com/week17cs.htm (Thursday, Friday, Saturday)

All sites have a Cheatsheet and footballguys.com is no different.  Our predictions remain one of the very best in the hobby.  We took 2nd out of some 24 services last season after analyzing actual results against projected weekly finish.  Our cheatsheets were also one of the few that lists the player’s status on the injury report.

Improvements in 2002:

-         Players will be linked to queries that show efforts against each team YTD and last 3 years efforts against opponent.

-         Each player will also be accompanied by projections for relative worth.

-         Short one line explanation on why a player is raked there.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Defensive Cheatsheet – (Posted and Mailed)

http://footballguys.com/week17idp.htm (Thursday, Friday, Saturday)

We rank defensive backs, linebackers and defensive ends each week for people that play individual defensive positions (IDP).  Only about 5% of the leagues play IDP, but these are usually some of the brightest players that visit the website.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Matchups (Posted and Mailed)

http://footballguys.com/week17passing.htm (Thursday)

http:///footballguys.com/week17rushing.htm (Thursday)

This feature was among the most popular.  The key to this feature is covering every single matchup and providing indepth analysis.  This data helps bolster why we rank people where we do each week.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Targets/Redzone (Posted only)

http://footballguys.com/wrtargets2001.cfm (Wednesday)

http://footballguys.com/rbtargets2001.cfm (Wednesday)

http://footballguys.com/tetargets2001.cfm (Wednesday)

http://footballguys.com/teamredzone.cfm (Wednesday)

A reward for having good message boards is that many die hard fans are willing to create some awesome content just for the recognition.  One such fan provide target info by combing through the play-by-play game summaries info each week.  This resulted in information that no one else had in 2001.  This remains one of our most popular features.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fantasy Points Allowed (Posted only)

http://footballguys.com/teamrankings14.htm (Thursday)

This was also a unique feature at Footballguys.com and is very helpful in determining who to has the easy/tough matchups each week.  It remains a very popular feature.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Schedule Strength (Posted only)

http://footballguys.com/skedrest.htm (Thursday)

By looking ahead at the coming games, one can determine which players are likely to face weak opponents against the run or pass thereby helping fantasy managers with key information before executing possible trades/waiver wire pick ups.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Player Upgrades/Downgrades (Posted and Mailed)

http://footballguys.com/wk15upgrades.htm (Monday)

http://footballguys.com/wk15defupgrades.htm (Tuesday)

These recap players that are moving up or down based on recent events.  This is a popular feature which assists people in securing good waiver pickups for future weeks.  We release our offensive upgrades early Monday (and then update after MNF)  to give our readers an edge up on the competition.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Injury Report (Posted and Mailed)

http://footballguys.com/week17binjury.htm (Wednesday, Friday)

Nothing special here, but to be a complete site you need to have these current on the website.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Articles (Posted Only)

http://footballguys.com/articles.htm (Various)

Writers would add articles throughout the year on various topics related to fantasy football.  This essentially is considered “bonus” material since it would be hard to predict when this material would be available.

Improvements in 2002:

- We will have 3-4 of our staff creating a weekly article feature.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Interactive Depth Charts (Posted Only)

http://footballguys.com/depthchart.htm (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday)

http://footballguys.com/defdepthchart.htm (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday)

We maintained these through the season on a regular basis.  They are very popular because they are dynamic and allow the user to easily shell between teams.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wall of Champs

http://footballguys.com/wall2001.cfm

Not much fantasy value, but people love to shout out that they won their league.

More In-Season Additions for 2002

Game breakdowns.  We will discuss the previous week’s games as they relate to fantasy football and include targets and redzone information.

Game Predictor.  We are creating a tool that will accurately predict fantasy production against any two teams.  This will be ready in July of this season and will be the same logic that we use for determining projected fantasy value.

Power Rankings.  NFL power rankings with a quick blurb regarding each team.

Trade Calculator.  Pull down lists of players to compare if a trade is fair or not.  This feature will be ready by mid-July.

Pre-season Features that are still popular during the season

Inside the Stats (Posted Only)

http://www.footballguystalk.com/insidestats/

Ken Maxwell found us last year and offered to post his stat munching program on our site.  He basically just wanted exposure, but we have him in a longer term agreement now.

Improvements in 2002:

-         Individual Defensive Players (IDP) for last 5 years

-         Linked to cheatsheets as described above

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NFL Schedule (Posted Only)

http://footballguys.com/schedule02.htm

http://footballguys.com/2002sked.htm

We publish two versions for the fantasy community.  The first is an interactive look that allows for quickly answering any schedule type question.  The second is a one page look at all the games.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Message Boards (Posted Only)

http://footballguystalk.com

These basically run themselves, but require some administrators to keep people in check.  We currently have over 9,000 members on our boards and have only had these up for a year.  This remains one of the areas that separate Footballguys.com from the rest of the fantasy sites.  Others have boards, but do not possess the same strong community and breadth of knowledge that show up on ours.  Some of the biggest names in the hobby post here on a consistent basis.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Links (Posted Only)

http://footballguys.com/ezlinks.htm

http://footballguys.com/teamlinks/ari/links.htm (all teams exist)

Footballguys.com spent a great deal of time last season creating the best fantasy football links on the net.  The reason for this is simple.  By creating a place where you can easily get to everything else fantasy football, people bookmark you and start their fantasy day with your information.  This feature will be updated in early June verifying all links and creating a team page for Houston.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Breaking Email Updates (Emailed Only)

Late breaking nuggets sent to our subscribers so they would be amongst the first to know in the hobby.  We have establish a very successful network for NFL News and consistently beat the other subscription services to the story.

 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Top 200 Lists (Posted and Emailed)

http://footballguys.com/top200.htm

This remains popular during the season because it shows relative trade worth.  Plus some leagues have a redraft or two within the season.  We did these  lists a few times during the season last year.  We are committed to keeping this current each week in 2002.
