Indianapolis 35 at Philadelphia 13

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Indianapolis Colts:

RB James Mungro, making his first career start because Edgerrin James and Ricky Williams are out with hamstring injuries, had TD runs of 6 and 10 yards. He ran hard and was effective behind an excellent job from the offensive line.

WR Marvin Harrison was outstanding and finished with six catches for 137 yards.

The Colt's Passing game came alive as Manning found and delivered the ball to open receivers all day. "It felt like a track meet out there," said Eagles Pro Bowl cornerback Troy Vincent, who was beat by Harrison on the TD pass.

Philadelphia Eagles:

QB Donovan McNabb threw for 281 yards and one TD and ran for 62 yards, but dropped a pass on a critical fourth-and-1 in the third quarter and also lost 2 fumbles.

The Eagles running backs jumped out to a fast start, gaining 30 yards rushing on the first drive, but then were shut down, gaining only 24 yards the rest of the way. Duce Staley was a non factor on the day. McNabb's 64 rushing yards were the only bright spot for the Eagle's running game on the day.

WHAT YOU OUGHT TO KNOW

Indianapolis Colts

Before the Game, Dungy said to his players that if they get behind, don't feel like you have to hit the "3 pointer" or "home run ball", trust and rely on the Defense to get us back in it.

QB: Payton Manning - 18/23 for 319 yards and 3 TDs. 2 rushes for 11 yards. For many weeks now, Manning has not done well leading his WRs, forcing them to slow down to make the catch. Sunday, Manning was hitting his WRs in stride for big gains.

RB: James Mungro - 28 carries for 114 yards and 2 TDs. 2 receptions for 20 yards. Took advantage of great run blocking schemes from the Colt's Offensive line. Mungro shows good speed and power to run inside and off tackle, but is not really fast enough to turn the corner outside for big gains. Gained 49 big yards up the middle early in the game. Fumbled inside the Eagles' 10 yard line as the Colts were driving early in the contest. Gained 84 yards in the first quarter, more than the Eagles have allowed from a back in an entire game this season. Left the game a number of times limping and nursing his right leg after hits. Would only sit out a few plays before returning every time.

WR: Marvin Harrison - 6 receptions for 136 yards and 2 TDs. 2nd and 13 on the Colt's 57, Manning sold the pump fake and hit a streaking Harrison in stride on the right sideline for a TD. Manning was incomplete to Harrison for what would have been 15+ yard TD. Ball was slightly overthrown as it went off Harrison's fingertips.

Qadry Ismail - 1 reception for 13 yards. Manning to Ismail on 3rd down with less than a minute in the half, play broken up by the defender. Not used much in the attack, as Reggie Wayne stood out.

Reggie Wayne - 6 receptions for 121 yards and a TD. Normally an after thought behind Harrison and Ismail, Wayne stood out in the game. Was thrown to on three consecutive plays in one drive. Picked up 2 much needed 1st downs. TD pass to Wayne came on poor pass coverage from the Eagles.

TE: Marcus Pollard -. 1 reception for 18 yards. One reception, and one dropped ball. Not much of a factor.

Colts Pass Defense - Recorded two sacks on McNabb. Played well, but the Colt's strength was against the run.

Colts Rush Defense - Stopped the Eagles at the Philadelphia 1 yard line on downs forcing a punt. Big game, stopping the Eagles on a number of key plays, most importantly on 4th and Goal at the 5 yard line forcing the Eagles to turn the ball over on downs.

Colts Special Teams - PK Mike Vanderjagt - Missed a FG, but was 5/5 on XPs.

Philadelphia Eagles

This was the Eagles first loss at home this season (4-1). McNabb said in the pregame interview that the Eagles game plan was to establish the run today.

QB: Donovan McNabb - 27 of 47 for 281 yards and a TD. 7 carries for 62 yards. Picked up a much needed 1st down on a QB sneak. Eagles went for it inside the Colt's 5 yard line on 4th down, incomplete pass to Levens. McNabb fumbled twice losing both of them.

RB: Deuce Staley - 6 carries for 15 yards. 4 receptions for 39 yards. McNabb overthrew Staley deep downfield on the second pass of the game. 10 yard gain on first carry. After that 10 yard pick up, Staley was shut out for much of the game, and was unable to get going in the rushing attack.

Dorsey Levens - 7 carries for 44 yards. 11 yard gain in the first drive. Eagles went for it inside the Colt's 5 yard line on 4th down, and it resulted in an incomplete pass to Levens. Didn't fare much better than Staley, and was not used in the passing attack.

WR: Todd Pinkston - 3 receptions for 57 yards. McNabb came out passing, but Pinkston was overthrown. Gained 21 of his yards on a deep crossing pattern over the middle. Pinkston made great moves in traffic after the catch picking up a number of extra yards.

Antonio Freeman - 7 receptions for 84 yards. Bright spot of the Eagle's passing attack. Moved well in traffic before and after the reception.

Freddie Mitchell - 2 receptions for 20 yards. Not a factor in the game.

James Thrash - 1 reception for 9 yards. Not a factor in the game.

TE: Chad Lewis - 4 receptions for 36 yards.

Jeff Thomason - Single reception for a 2 yard TD at the end of the game in garbage time. Not a factor throughout the game but again managed to steal a TE touchdown from Lewis.

Eagle's Pass Defense: No real pressure on Manning all day as the Colt's line held the #2 Defense in the league in check. Colt's receivers were open all day.

Eagle's Rush Defense: Great blocking by the Colt's front line allowed James Mungro to find holes all day. Not a strong performance by the Eagles. Mungro Gained 84 yards in the first quarter, more than the Eagles have allowed from a back in an entire game this season.

Eagle's Special Teams: PK David Akers - 2/2 for FGs, with an XP.
