WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Cleveland Browns:

RB William Green had a break out game today with 96 yards on 25 carries but showed very few moves and appeared to be very slow. Green did break one run for 16 yards.

QB Tim Couch had all day to find the open receivers and make decisions. Couch had a good day with 242 yards and 3 TDs and an INT.

WRs Quincy Morgan and Dennis Northcutt became major targets in this game as Kevin Johnson was heavily covered. Morgan had 5 catches for 81 yards and Northcutt had 6 catches for 71 yards and a TD.

Cincinnati Bengals:

RB Corey Dillon had a decent game even with several offensive linemen getting injured throughout the game. Dillon had 19 carries for 92 yards and did the usual of getting several solid gains to go with the stuffs allowed by the line.

QB Jon Kitna played ok but wasn't able to keep the Bengals drives going down the field. Kitna went 17 of 30 for 258 yards and a TD. The TD was a long 72-yard pass to Chad Johnson early in the game. Kitna also ran in a 3 yard TD.

WR Chad Johnson played huge at the beginning of the game with a 72 yard TD and came open in key moments but slowly died down at the end of the game. Johnson finished with 4 catches for 103 yards and a TD.

WHAT YOU OUGHT TO KNOW

Cleveland Browns

QB: Tim Couch - played a very good game spreading the ball around to 9 different receivers. Had a few inaccurate passes and made a poor decision that let to an INT but overall was accurate and made good decisions. Couch went 22 of 35 for 242 yards and 3 TDs and an INT.

RB: William Green - had a solid game gaining 96 yards on 25 carries. Green didn't show any spectacular moves but just got what he could. He broke one run for 16 yards but doesn't seem to have the speed to break away from the secondary.

James Jackson - filled in for Green and got 7 carries for 27 yards and showed a huge burst of speed breaking one for 18 yards.

WR: Quincy Morgan and Dennis Northcutt - were major targets in this game with Johnson being heavily covered. Morgan came out with 5 catches for 81 yards and appeared to be the go to guy when they needed a play. Northcutt came open a lot coming out with 6 catches for 71 yards and a TD.

Kevin Johnson - was double covered most of the game and was held to 3 catches for 32 yards.

Andre Davis and Darnell Sanders -both came out with a TD catch but that was the only catch of the day for both of them.

TE: Steve Heiden - came out with 2 catches for 15 yards but wasn't a big focus with the WRs getting most of the catches.

Run Defense: played well against a banged up Cincinnati offensive line. Cleveland held Dillon to 92 yards but gave up a few long runs.

Pass Defense: gave up a huge 72 yard TD early in the game to Chad Johnson. The defense didn't give Kitna a huge amount of pressure and allowed the receivers to come open from time to time.

Cincinnati Bengals

QB: Jon Kitna - played ok going 17 of 30 for 258 yards and 2 TDs (1 rushing, 1 passing). Kitna completed a fair amount of passes but wasn't able to sustain drives through the air. Kitna hit Chad Johnson for a 72 yard TD and ran 3 yards for a TD.

RB: Corey Dillon - played well despite the injuries occurring on the offensive line. Dillon had 19 carries for 92 yards and busted a run for 27 yards. Dillon wasn't too effective in the passing game only getting 2 catches for 18 yards. Came heartbreakingly close (again) to a TD and was extremely upset on the sidelines yelling at Running Back Coach Jim Anderson.

WR: Chad Johnson - started the game off with a 72-yard TD from Kitna and burning his defender deep. Johnson was target 8 times but only got 4 catches for 103 yards and the TD in the game. As he did in the Bengals win over Houston, Johnson had "guaranteed" a victory for this game.

Peter Warrick - was targeted only 3 times and held to 1 catch for 26 yards and had a dropped pass.

TE: Matt Schobel - had 2 catches for 17 yards but really had no effect on the offense.

Run Defense: wasn't very good as William Green broke out on them getting 96 yards. The defense allowed several solid gains on the left side behind Ross Verba.

Pass Defense: did a good job of covering Kevin Johnson but gave up a huge amount of yards to Quincy Morgan and Dennis Northcutt. They placed almost no pressure on Tim Couch.
