Baltimore 20 at Indianapolis 22

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Baltimore Ravens:

Even with LB Ray Lewis standing in street clothes on the sideline, (First time Lewis missed a game in 64 starts) the Raven's Defense was very effective against the Colt's Offense though 4 Quarters of Football. The Ravens had penetration into the Colt's Backfield on almost every play, Holding James to just 43 rushing yards, and sacking Manning 5 times.

Although Chris Redman's numbers look poor, outside of his 3 Fumbles, he played very well. He was able to get the ball off in pressure, made great decisions, and showed poise. Would have had well over 200 yards passing on the day if just a few more dropped passes had been completed.

Indianapolis Colts:

The NFL's Most Accurate Kicker in History, Mike Vanderjagt, capped his career high 5 FGs with a 38-yard game-winner that completed Indianapolis' last-minute comeback for a 22-20 victory

After 10 consecutive 100 yard rushing games, James has been held under 100 yards for his second game in a row. After running well on the first drive, James was hit behind the line all day, couldn't find running lanes, and was brought down on first contact often. Did not look like the James we've come to expect at all.

WHAT YOU OUGHT TO KNOW

Baltimore Ravens

QB: Chris Redman - 15 of 28 for 163 yards and an INT. 1 carry for 6 yards. Fumbled 3 times on the day, losing one to the Colts. Had 2 passes to Travis Taylor dropped by the receiver, one for 9 yards, and another for 13 yards. Threw a pass that would have been a 30 yard gain that went just off Heap's fingertips. The defender on Heap held onto his jersey for at least 15 yards down field, but it was not called by the Officials.

RB: Jamal Lewis - 21 Carries for 75 yards and 2 rushing TDs. 7 Receptions for 51 yards. Ran well against a Colt's defense that was geared to stop him.

Chester Taylor - 2 Carries for a single yard.

WR: Travis Taylor - 4 Reception for 57 yards. Dropped 2 passes on the day, one for 9 yards, and another for 13 yards.

Ron Johnson - 1 Reception for 10 yards. Fumbled his only reception after gaining 10 yards, it was recovered by the Colts.

Javin Hunter - 1 Carry for 9 yards.

TE: Todd Heap - 1 Carry for 14 yards. 2 catches for 38 yards. Ball was just off his fingertips on a seam route that would have been for 30 yards. Reason he missed it is that the Defender on him held his jersey for at least 15 yards down the field, but it wasn't called by the Officials.

Raven's Pass Defense - Tons of pressure on Manning for the game. RLB Peter Boulware, SS Will Demps, NT Kelly Gregg, FS Ed Reed, and NT Ma'ake Kemoeatu each had sacks on Manning. SS Anthony Mitchell also had an INT.

Raven's Rush Defense - Huge Defensive effort holding the Colts to just 60 total rushing yards on the day.

Raven's Special Teams:
K: Matt Stover - 2 FGs, one being a 51 yarder, and 2 XPs.

P: Dave Zastudil - 6 punts averaging just under 40 yards each, pinning the Colts inside their own 20 three times.

PR: 7 KO Returns by 4 different Ravens. Javin Hunter ripped off a 63 yarder that almost broke for a TD, but he was tripped up by the very last defender.

Indianapolis Colts

QB: Payton Manning - 30 of 40 for 284 with a TD and an INT. 2 Rushes for 17 yards. Fumbled once, recovered by the Colts. Hit Harrison on a Deep Cross over route for 40 yards early in the game. Over threw Harrison after he beat double coverage deep. Would have been a guaranteed 65 yard TD.

RB: Edgerrin James - 17 carries for 43. 4 Receptions for 8 yards. Struggled all day against a Raven's front line that was getting excellent penetration. Ran well on the first drive of the day, then disappeared.

WR: Marvin Harrison - 12 Receptions for 150 yards. Picked up 40 yards on a deep cross over route from Manning. Beat double coverage deep for what would have been a guaranteed 65 yard TD, but Manning over threw him.

Qadry Ismail - 5 receptions for 54 yards. Solid effort and increased attention he draws definitely helps Marvin Harrison.

Reggie Wayne - 4 catches for 44 yards. Seems to be playing a slightly increased role in this offense. Still not a factor though except for really deep leagues.

Troy Walters - 4th WR and Punt/KO returner. No receptions on the day.

TE: Marcus Pollard - 5 Receptions for 28 yards and a TD. Looks to be getting back to the form we were expecting from him. TD was a nice effort.

Jermaine Wiggins - Did not make a reception.

Joe Dean Davenport - Injured, did not play.

Colts Pass Defense - Great pressure on Redman, forcing him to dump off to Lewis a number of times due to the pressure. LDE Brad Scioli, LDE Raheem Brock, and RDE Chad Bratzke each had Sacks on Redman. LOLB Mike Peterson picked off Redman for an INT.

Colts Rush Defense - Played the Ravens strong, holding Lewis to 75 yards, although he was able to break off a couple of runs and did score twice.

Colts Special Teams -
KO Returner Troy Walters had 1 return, losing 2 yards on the attempt.

P: Hunter Smith had 6 punts averaging over 51 yards each, pinning the Ravens inside their own 20 twice. High, powerful, booming punts. Set a career record with a 69 yard punt that was not returned.

K: Mike Vanderjagt - 5 FGs on the day, the longest being 50 yards, added an XP as well. Deadly accurate.
