Atlanta 37 at New Orleans 35

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Atlanta Falcons:

After struggling in the first quarter, QB Michael Vick scrambled, threw lasers on the rollout, showed nice touch to outlets, and provided the leadership the Falcons needed for a last minute comeback. Vick's scramble for 27 yards set up the Falcons' first touchdown and opened up the game for Warrick Dunn. Executed screens nicely. Left game in last minute with injured left shoulder and thumb so keep an eye out.

RB Warrick Dunn was huge with 142 yards rushing and a TD. Did have two key fumbles - one inside the Saint ten on a reception and one late to set up New Orleans' go ahead touchdown. Vick overthrew him once at the goal line.

T.J. Duckett did not suit up.

Brian Finneran is the number one target. Had a nice run after catch with Ken Irvin hanging all over him. Drew an illegal contact call at the goal line. He was the target on a 30-yard attempt that was deflected in double coverage.

New Orleans Saints:

Aaron Brooks has had better games. He was constantly throwing the ball up for grabs as he was backpedaling or throwing off his back foot. He was lucky to only throw two interceptions. Had one interception overruled by replay.

New Orleans killed their own drives whenever they went away from Deuce McAllister. McAllister scored 3 TDs and slipped through small creases, made nice cut backs, and ran over defenders. Had four carries inside the Falcon six, before punching it in. Had a 66-yard touchdown called back on a questionable holding call behind the point of attack. On his next carry, McAllister fumbled the ball away and the Saints did not give him another carry the rest of the half.

Number one man, Joe Horn, ran his sharp routes and out-positioned the Falcon defenders. Was the target on a screen that did not develop and a 20-yarder that was deflected away.

Kick returner Michael Lewis gained over 200 yards by running it up the right side, putting the Saints in favorable field position throughout the game.

WHAT YOU OUGHT TO KNOW

Atlanta Falcons

QB: Michael Vick - After struggling in the first quarter, he scrambled, threw lasers on the rollout, showed nice touch to outlets, and provided the leadership the Falcons needed for a last minute comeback. Vick's scramble for 27 yards set up the Falcons' first touchdown and opened up the game for Warrick Dunn. Executed screens nicely. Still wasting timeouts early. Left game in last minute with injured left shoulder and thumb but was cheering and jumping around on the sidelines. Keep an eye out to see if the injury is something to worry about.

RB: T.J. Duckett - Was inactive with injured foot.

Warrick Dunn - Atlanta threw swing passes to get Dunn open outside. Showed he still has the moves in the open field. Had difficulty running inside, but squirted through on two big carries in short yardage situations. Two key fumbles - one inside the Saint 10 yard line on a reception and one late to set up New Orleans' go ahead touchdown. Vick overthrew him once at the goal line.

Bob Christian - The fullback entered the game "questionable" with a concussion. Ran the ball well up the middle, as the offensive line did their job against the Saint tackles.

WR: Brian Finneran - The number one target. Had a nice run after catch with Ken Irvin hanging all over him. Drew an illegal contact call at the goal line. He was the target on a 30-yard attempt that was deflected in double coverage.

Shawn Jefferson - Drew a 33-yard pass interference on a fly pattern and a defensive hold on a 10-yard hitch.

Willie Jackson - Dropped a 15-yard out and was the target deep as the ball was batted away in double coverage.

TE: Alge Crumpler - Did not start, but is the receiving tight end. Atlanta went with a double tight end set with Crumpler and Brian Kozlowski in their two-minute offense. Crumpler busted a Jay Bellamy tackle for 33 yards down the sideline.

Falcons Pass Defense: Penalties prolonged scoring drives early. Nickel back Juran Bolden left with knee injury. Henry Jones committed a key personal foul, missed an open field tackle on a McAllister touchdown, and was beaten on a two-point conversion.

Falcons Rush Defense: Undersized front line held their own. Gerald McBurrows did a great job stripping McAllister of the ball.

Falcons Special Teams: Jay Feely went three for three on field goals, including the 47-yard game winner with no time left.

New Orleans Saints

QB: Aaron Brooks - Had better games. He was constantly throwing the ball up for grabs as he was backpedaling or throwing off his back. He was lucky to only throw two interceptions. Had one interception overruled by replay.

Just never seemed to be able to get into a good flow of the game. Made some poor passes and was also the victim of some receiver drops.

RB: Deuce McAllister - New Orleans killed their own drives whenever they went away from McAllister. McAllister slipped through small creases, made nice cut backs, and ran over defenders. Had four carries inside the Falcon six, before punching it in. Had a 66-yard touchdown called back on a questionable holding call behind the point of attack. On his next carry, McAllister fumbled the ball away and the Saints did not give him another carry the rest of the half.

WR: Joe Horn - Number one man, ran his sharp routes and out-positioned the Falcon defenders. Was the target on a screen that did not develop and a 20-yarder that was deflected away.

Jerome Pathon - Caught a seven-yard slant in the red zone on 2nd and four at the 13. Was overthrown on a long-out route. Dropped a 40-yarder after a nice adjustment to the under thrown ball. Committed offensive pass interference on an overthrown ball in the end zone.

Jake Reed - Drew an illegal use of hands on a third-down ten-yard route. Two attempts to Reed were deflected over the middle, including one at the line of scrimmage. Was overthrown on a 20-yarder and dropped one over the middle.

Donte' Stallworth - Was the target on short slants. Was missed on one and another was deflected away.

Michael Lewis - Gained over 200 yards running it up the right side on kick returns, putting the Saints in favorable field position throughout the game.

TE: Boo Williams - Caught a fade on two-point conversion. Was under thrown over the middle as Brooks threw off his back foot.

Saints Pass Defense: Blitzes hurried Vick early as Darren Howard got two sacks in the first quarter. Once Vick started breaking containment on the scramble, the rest of the defense broke down.

Saints Rush Defense: Defenders took bad angles at Vick. Sammy Knight had another strip, this time on Dunn.

Saints Special Teams: Lewis' kick returns gave the Saints good field position and prompted the Falcons to squib the kickoff away from Lewis.
