Tennessee 23 at Indianapolis 15

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Tennessee Titans:

Titans safety Lance Schulters separated his left shoulder late in the third quarter and is questionable for next week's game against Houston.

Tennessee's ground game got rolling early in the game and never looked back as they relied on George for the remainder of the contest. George rushed 22 times for 95 yards. "We established something we wanted to establish," McNair said. "We wanted to eliminate mistakes and methodically move down the field and we did."

QB Steve McNair only threw 19 times (completing 14) for just 82 yards. He did throw a short TD. This was primarily because the Titans were able to run over the Colts and Tennessee didn't need to throw.

WR Derrick Mason looked fine catching half (41) of McNair's total passing yardage. He just didn't have the opportunities.

Indianapolis Colts:

The Colts failed to establish a running game. They were playing without two-time NFL rushing leader Edgerrin James and his backup, Ricky Williams, who was a late scratch after being expected to start. Both were inactive because of hamstring injuries.

Rookie RB James Mungro did well with his limited opportunities, but the Colts went to the pass as their primary form of attack to catch up after falling behind. Keep a close eye on the injury situation among the Colts RBs as Mungro might be worth a shot if James and Williams are limited.

QB Peyton Manning threw 50 times completing 37 for 327 yards and 2 TDs. "Today's game was very similar to the last two weeks, where we just get the big deficits and dig ourselves a hole and don't have enough to fight back," Colts coach Tony Dungy said. "It's disappointing." Indianapolis didn't score until the game's final 13 minutes. By then they'd fallen behind 23-0.

WHAT YOU OUGHT TO KNOW

Tennessee Titans

QB: Steve McNair - 14 of 19 for 82 yards with a TD. 6 carries for 13 yards. Ties Warren Moon for Franchise record of 21 consecutive games with a TD pass. Thanks goodness he grabbed the TD as the 82 yards won't carry many teams. He looked fine throwing the ball. Tennessee just simply chose to run all over the Colts.

RB: Eddie George - 22 carries for 95 yards. 3 receptions for 16 yards. Pretty much continued the Eddie of Old impression.

Mike Green - 2 carries for 8 yards. 3 receptions for 9 yards and a TD. Starting Fullback. Showed nice hands on 3 yard TD pass from McNair.

WR: Derrick Mason - 5 receptions for 41 yards. When the QB throws 19 times for the entire game, there isn't a lot to go around. This was more a result of the weak Indy rush defense than it was the Tennessee Passing game.

Kevin Dyson - 2 receptions for 10 yards. 1 carry for 5 yards. Nice end around rushing gain of 5 yards on a fake RB Dive.

Justin McCareins - Used as Punt Returner

TE: Frank Wycheck - 1 reception for 6 yards. Hard to tell with the limited passes, but he looks to be passing the torch to Derrick Mason as McNair's confidence guy.

Titan's Pass Defense - Huge pressure on Manning, on 9 Colt's passing plays in the first quarter, the Titans Blitzed 6 times. SS Tank Williams Intercepted Manning on a quick pass to Harrison to kill the Colt's 3rd drive. SS Tank Williams came unblocked and leveled Manning, who fumbled, recovered by ROLB Keith Bulluck who ran it 61 yards in for a Titan TD. LDE Kevin Carter, LDE Juqua Thomas, and SS Tank Williams all sacked Manning.

Titan's Rush Defense - Although the Titans held the Colts to just 80 rushing yards on the day, the real reason for the lack of yards was the Colts reliance on the pass. James Mungro did well with his opportunities averaging 3.8 yards a carry.

Titan's Special Teams:

K: Joe Nedney - 3 for 3 on FGs, and 2/2 on XPs. 28 yard FG, 34 yard FG, 39 yard FG. Nedney made three field goals for the third consecutive week.

P: Craig Hentrich - 4 punts averaging just over 40 yards, pinning the Colts inside their own 20 twice.

PR: Jon Simon was out, Justin McCareins stood in and returned one punt for 4 yards.

Indianapolis Colts

QB: Peyton Manning - 37 of 50 for 327 yards with 2 TDs and an INT. 1 carry for 12 yards. Interception to LOLB Peter Sirmon on quick pass to Harrison killed the Colt's 3rd drive. Fumbled on a SS Tank Williams Blitz that was recovered by ROLB Keith Bulluck and run back 61 yards for a Titan TD. Without the threat of a rushing game, Tennessee was able to focus on Manning. 327 yards / 2 TDs are excellent FF numbers but this team is in real trouble.

RB: Edgerrin James - Out of the Game.

Ricky Williams - Injured his Hamstring in Pre Game warm-ups and was declared out for the game at the last minute. Tough break for the young man.

Jim Finn - 2 carries for 8 yards. 3 receptions for 29 yards. Normally the Starting Full Back. In at Starter with James and Williams Out. Fumbled out of Bounds on the first Drive. Second Colts drive killed with a key 3rd and 8 screen pass to Finn who picked up the 1st down but fumbled the ball which was recovered by the Titans. Finn limped off the Field, and was replaced by James Mungro on the next series. Finn now has 5 career carries with 3 career fumbles.

James Mungro - 16 carries for 60 yards. 6 receptions for 33 yards. For what it's worth, Mungro was the High School player of the Year in Pennsylvania. The Rookie RB was with the Lions to start the season, and picked up by the Colts after being released. Keep an eye on the Edgerrin James / Ricky Williams situation as stranger things have happened.

WR: Marvin Harrison - 11 receptions for 99 yards with a TD. Pretty much what you've come to expect from Harrison.

Qadry Ismail - 3 receptions for 18 yards. Totally ignored in the first half, Only one pass thrown his way and that was at 44 seconds left in the half.

Reggie Wayne - 5 receptions for 93 yards. Played the # 2 role opposite Marvin Harrison in this game. With as many times as Indianapolis will throw, he's worth keeping an eye on.

Drew Haddad - 1 reception for 11 yards.

TE: Marcus Pollard - 7 receptions for 42 yards. Getting back to what we expected from the big guy. Clearly, was asked to run block less this week and it showed in his numbers.

Mike Roberg - 1 reception for 2 yards and a TD.

Colts Pass Defense - McNair went untouched through the first half as the Colts couldn't get any pressure on him. RDE Dwight Freeney sacked McNair in the second half.

Colts Rush Defense - Not a strong day allowing the Titans RBs well over 100 rushing yards on the day.

Colts Special Teams - KO Returner Troy Walters - 4 returns averaging 19 yards.

P: Hunter Smith - 2 punts averaging 40 yards, but never pinned the Titans inside their own 20.

K: Mike Vanderjagt - Missed FG, and 1/1 on XPs. Missed 46 yard attempt wide left at the end of the first half.
