Last week, I looked at the QB position using a tool I called the Benchability Index. This week, I am going to do the same, but apply a formula for RBs. Again the higher the number, the better the player is likely to keep his job.
Scoring:
.10 pts per rushing yard
.10 pts per receiving yard
-0.4 pts per rush attempt
-0.6 pts per catch
-2 pts per fumble
-2 pts per fumble lost
3 pts per TD
Note: Ratings only contain players with 50 or more rushing yards.

Some interesting players jump off the list:
William Green (Cle) - Not sure he could be any worse than he is right now. Averaging less than 2.3 yards per carry and has fumbled twice, losing both. Enough said.
Marcel Shipp (Ari) is outplaying Thomas Jones.
Clinton Portis (Den) is the best Denver RB
Edgerrin James (Ind) may have the yards, but he is getting those stats with a lot of touches.
Anthony Thomas (Chi) might be benched if the team had any other options. He is averaging just 3 yards per carry.
Despite all of the negativity, Duce Staley (Phi) has played well this season.
Travis Henry (Buf) could be having a huge year if he could hold onto the ball better.
