Cleveland's Tim Couch cut his throwing hand on an opponent's facemask on Sunday, but returned to the game after treatment. Status: X-rays on the hand came back negative. The injury will be evaluated further later in the week.

Chicago's Jim Miller was unable to throw deep passes on Sunday and there is growing speculation that his bum shoulder is rendering him ineffective. Status: Keep an eye on Millers' status as the week progresses.

Tennessee's Steve McNair strained his groin on Sunday. Status: The injury is not considered serious at this time.

Tampa Bay's Brad Johnson gutted out a huge game vs. the Vikings on Sunday, in spite of a painful broken rib. Status: Tough guy kudos go to Johnson, who is expected to continue playing hurt.



Running Backs

Indianapolis's Ricky Williams (slated to start for the injured Edgerrin James) pulled his hamstring in pre-game warm-ups and was unable to play on Sunday. Jim Finn played (badly) for the Colts. Status: The extent of the injury is unknown at this time.

Chicago's fullback Daimon Shelton sprained his ankle in the game vs. Philadelphia this Sunday. Status: The extent of the injury is unknown at this time, and will be evaluated further later in the week.

Cleveland's best running back (sharing time with William Green this season) Jamel White injured his right shoulder in the game vs. Pittsburgh and did not return to action. Status: The extent of the injury is unknown at this time.

New York Giant's Tiki Barber left the game late in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury. Status: The injury is not considered serious at this time.

Atlanta's T.J. Duckett injured his right foot on the final series of the game on Sunday. Status: The extent of the injury is unknown at this time. Duckett has already missed time this season with a injury to his left foot.

Jacksonville's Fred Taylor injured his back in the game vs. the New York Giants. Status: The extent of the injury is not known at this time.



Wide Receivers

Philadelphia's Antonio Freeman suffered a hip contusion in the game on Sunday. Status: The injury is being evaluated further, but is not considered serious at this time.

Minnesota's Derrick Alexander left the game on Sunday with a knee sprain and did not return to the field. Status: He has been diagnosed with an ACL tear. He is likely out for a long time (possibly the whole year).

Minnesota's D'Wayne Bates was unable to play on Sunday due to his bad back. Status: Bates has struggled with the injury for several weeks.

Tampa Bay's Joe Jurevicius (knee/ankle) was unable to play on Sunday, joining Keenan McCardell (shoulder) on the sidelines. Status: The injuries of both players will be evaluated as the week progresses.

Arizona's Martay Jenkins broke his shoulder in the first half on Sunday and did not return to the game. Status: Jenkins is out indefinitely.

New England's Deion Branch suffered a cut to the face on Sunday. Status: The injury is minor, and won't affect Branch.

Jacksonville's starting RT Zach Wiegert was out for this Sunday's game vs. the Giants with a left knee injury. Status: Wiegert is scheduled to have arthroscopic surgery on the knee Tuesday, and will be out for at least two weeks, if not longer. This is a major blow to the already-thin line. Taylor, Mack and Brunell owners should take note.

Minnesota's starting LG Corbin Lacina sprained a knee in the game Sunday and did not return to action. Status: The extent of the injury is unknown at this time, but Lacina may miss some time.

Minnesota's starting LT Lewis Kelly continued to struggle with a high ankle sprain on Sunday, and was unable to play. Status: The severity of the injury continues to limit Kelly's play.

Chicago's starting LG Chris Vallarial was unable to play Sunday due to back spasms. Status: The severity of the problem is unknown at this time. Kevin Dogins played in Vallarial's spot on Sunday.

Oakland's starting LT Barry Sims left the game in the third quarter after aggravating his turf-toe injury on Sunday. Status: The nagging injury is limiting Sims this season, and isn't getting any better.

Defensive Players

Seattle's starting LB Chad Brown suffered a season-ending foot injury on Sunday. He is scheduled for surgery today. Status: Seattle's rush defense will be even worse now, if that is possible.

Baltimore's starting CB Chris McAlister left the game vs. Atlanta with a sprained ankle on Sunday. Status: X-rays were negative. The extent of the injury is unknown at this time, and will be evaluated further later in the week.
