New York Jets� Laveranues Coles hurt his right hand in the game on Saturday. Status: X-rays were negative, and the hand is fine for the next game. The ring finger popped out of it�s socket but popped back in � no lasting damage was done to the digit.

 

Pittsburgh�s Hines Ward injured his right thigh in the game on Sunday. Status: The injury was wrapped after the game, but is not considered serious at this time.

Kickers

 

New York Jets� punter Matt Turk is still nagged by his sore abdomen. Status: Turk is probable to play in the next game.

 

San Francisco�s PK Jeff Chandler has a sprained ankle. Status: Chandler is probable to play in the game vs. Tampa.

 

Offensive Linemen

 

New York Jets� backup LT Jumbo Elliot is nursing an aching back. Status: Elliot is probable to play in the next playoff game.

 

Pittsburgh�s starting RG Kendall Simmons lacerated his right thumb in the third quarter and did not return to play. Status: The injury required 10 stitches � it shouldn�t stop him from playing in the next game.

 

Atlanta�s starting LG Travis Claridge suffered a concussion in the game against Green Bay. Status: Claridge was described as �in agony� after the Green Bay game. Concussions are notoriously difficult to predict, with side effects that can appear days after the injury. If Claridge cannot play in the next game, rookie Martin Bibla steps into his spot at LG.

 

San Francisco�s starting LT Derrick Deese sprained his left ankle in the game Sunday. Status: Deese is questionable for the game vs. Tampa.

Defensive Players

 

Pittsburgh�s starting LB Kendrell Bell aggravated his sprained ankle in the playoff game on Sunday. Status: Bell made plays all game despite the injury � he should be back for the next game, although he was forced from the Cleveland game in the fourth quarter.

 

Pittsburgh�s starting CB Chad Scott missed the playoff game due to a broken thumb. Status: Scott was sorely missed as the Browns torched the Steelers for many long pass plays � his injury will be re-evaluated as the week progresses.

 

Pittsburgh�s backup FS Mike Logan hyperextended his knee in the third quarter and was unable to return to play. Status: The injury will be evaluated further later in the week.

 

Pittsburgh�s reserve CB Chidi Iwuoma suffered a right knee injury in the second quarter and did not return to play. Status: The severity of the injury is unclear at this time.

 

Pittsburgh�s starting RDE Kimo Von Oelhoffen was wearing a protective boot on his injured foot after the game. Status: The severity of the injury is unknown at this time � his status will be further evaluated later in the week.
