Quarterbacks in the News

 

QB Jake Plummer (Ari) and Shaun King (TB) could be targets of the Chicago Bears during the upcoming free agency period.

 

QB Jim Miller (Chi) had a 95% tear of his rotator cuff and has the arm in a sling. He says he�ll be ready for training camp, but the team says they are not counting on him right now. Miller says he wishes he would have undergone surgery back in October.

 

*** Friday Night Update � Marshall QB Byron Leftwich (College) will not play in this year�s Hula Bowl due to a high ankle sprain.�

 

*** Thursday Night Update � QB Jim Druckenmiller (Ind) has been signed by the team. Now you can all go back to sleep.

 

*** Friday Night Update � QB Neil O�Donnell (Ten) will likely have to take a pay cut to return to the Titans next year.� The team would like to promote current number 3 QB Billy Volek.

 

Running Backs in the News

 

*** Thursday Night Update � RB Anthony Thomas (Chi) will likely be given another chance to be the team�s starting RB again next season.

 

*** Thursday Night Update � RB Emmitt Smith (Dal) may still have a future with the team. According to head coach Bill Parcells, Smith�s future has yet to be determined. There is a lot of talk that if Smith does return to the team, he will not be the starting RB.

 

*** Friday Night Update � If Smith does not return, look for the Carolina Panthers to make a play for him.� They are in need of a running back in the worst way since lamar Smith is not expected back and Deshaun Foster is a big question mark to be able to play next season.� The Panthers are approximately $10 million below the cap.

 

RB Terrell Davis (Den) doesn�t know if he�ll play next season. Let�s hope he realizes his body can no longer take the pounding.

 

RB Priest Holmes (KC) would be able to play in the Pro Bowl if it were a regular season game. Holmes is said to be 80-85% healthy and will not play in the game.

 

RB Moe Williams (Min) is slated to become a free agent, but the team wants to re-sign him.

 

RB Michael Pittman (TB) suffered a mild concussion in last Sunday�s game. He did return later in the game.

 

Wide Receivers in the News

 

*** Thursday Night Update � WR/KR Dante Hall (KC) re-signed with the team to the tune of a five-year deal.

 

WR Jerry Rice (Oak) says this weekend�s Super Bowl will not be his last game.

 

*** Friday Night Update � WR Tim Brown (Oak) remains on baby watch as his wife is very close to having twins.� If he has to do, Tim will fly back to Oakland and be with his wife, but will return for the game.� The Brown�s are hopeful that the delivery takes place Monday or later.� Doctors will induce on January 30th if necessary.

 

*** Friday Night Update � San Francisco has added WRs Nate Jackson, Hilton Alexander and James Jordan to their roster.� I think this sums up what they think of JJ Stokes future in the bay area.

 

*** Thursday Night Update � WR Keyshawn Johnson (TB) may retire � after three more seasons. This is earth shattering news indeed.

Tight Ends in the News

 

TE Hunter Goodwin and Jim Kleinsasser (Min) are slated to be free agents, but the team wants to re-sign both. Keeping Kleinsasser appears to be a priority for the team.

 

TE Jeremy Brigham (Oak) was added to the active roster for the Super Bowl.

 

TE Frank Wycheck (Ten) wants to return to the team next season, but he�ll likely have to take a pay cut to do so.

PK Sebastian Janikowski (Oak) says he has stopped drinking�three months ago.� He is 18 for his last 20 FG attempts. Coincidence?

 

PK Joe Nedney (Ten) hyperextended his knee last week but will not need surgery.
