Quarterbacks:

QB Akili Smith (Cin) will start for the Bengals this week.

QB Brian Griese (Den) has a sprained ankle after tripping over his dog on his stairs. He was able to practice on Friday and Saturday and is expected to start as usual.

QB Jay Fiedler (Mia) has a sore finger, but was able to practice with it taped and will start this week as expected.

QB Kordell Stewart (Pit) was informed by coach Cowher that he will need to improve his play or he will be benched. Tommy Maddox is next in line.

Running Backs:

RB Thomas Jones (Ari) has a twisted ankle that may limit him on Sunday. He will start though as expected.

RB Jamal Lewis (Bal) has bruised ribs but will play on Monday night.

RB Lamar Smith (Car) had a toenail removed on Friday, but is expected to start as usual.

RB Emmitt Smith (Dal) gets good news with the return of Larry Allen this week. Allen will play tackle vice guard this week because of mobility concerns.

RB Olandis Gary (Den) was able to practice hard on Saturday and will be available to play on Monday. No decision on who will start at RB from the coach, but we believe Clinton Portis should get the majority of the work.

RB Lamont Warren (Det) was placed on injured reserve and is lost for the season. Richard Huntley is now the backup RB in Detroit.

The Green Bay Packers released RB Rondell Mealey. Najeh Davenport is the #2 RB behing Ahman Green.

RB Ahman Green (GB) was able to practice Thursday and Friday with his sore quad and is expected to start on Sunday.

ESPN is stating that RB James Allen (Hou) will start this game despite being banged up and being outplayed last week by Jonathan Wells.

The Associated Press is reporting that RB Curtis Martin (NYJ) will get the start, but Lamont Jordan will also get carries.

RB Richie Anderson (NYJ) is expected to play with a sore Achilles.

RB Marshall Faulk (StL) was cleared to play after a successful MRI. He has been practicing all week with the team.

Wide Receivers:

WR David Boston (Ari) was able to practice on Thursday and Friday and will start on Sunday.

WR Brandon Stokely (Bal) has a very tender ankle, but promises to be there on Monday night. He has missed Wednesday and Thursday practices. He appears on the injury report as questionable.

Steve Smith and Isaac Byrd (Car) will start in place of the injured Muhsin Muhammad.

WR Chad Johnson (Cin) will start opposite of WR Peter Warrick.

WR Bill Schroeder (Det) practiced this week and is expected to start opposite of Az-Zahir Hakim.

WR Terry Glenn (GB) has a severe headache that is affecting his ability to practice. He missed Thursday and Friday's practices and is not a lock to play on Sunday.

WR Javon Walker (GB) will not play this weekend.

WR Randy Moss (Min) found himself in jail after a traffic incident had him nudging a traffic control lady in an attempt to make an improper turn. He was later released and now faces two misdemeanors. Despite the incident, he will play on Sunday night.

WR Derrick Alexander (Min) is now the #2 WR for the Vikings. D'Wayne Bates is now the #3 WR.

WR Troy Brown (NE) was not able to practice on Thursday or Friday, but will be with the team in San Diego. No decision has been made on his playing status and it won't likely be made until just before game-time.

WR Santana Moss (NYJ) will not be playing this week. He is attempting to recover from a sore hamstring.

TE Wesley Walls (Car) has a sore knee, but will start as expected.

TE Fred Baxter (Chi) will not play this week.

TE Tony Gonzales (KC) will continue to play with his soft cast on his wrist.

TE/FB Jim Kleinsasser (Min) will not play this weekend.

TE Byron Chamberlain (Min) was able to practice on Thursday and Friday and will be the starter this weekend.

TE Jerramy Stevens (Sea) has been named the #1 TE in Seattle.
