Upgrades

QB Tom Brady (NE) - Brady looked great against the Chiefs on Sunday. With 410 yards and 4 touchdowns, Brady is nearly approaching "stud status" and should be considered a "must play" every week. Brady has tossed 9 touchdowns in the first 3 weeks of the season. The Patriots have a deep receiving corps, which leads me to believe that Brady will continue to produce on a consistent basis. Keep him in your starting lineup.

QB Donovan McNabb (Phi) - Do you really need me to tell you that McNabb is an upgrade this week? Heck, another solid performance with 287 passing yards, 67 rushing yards and 4 total touchdowns gives me evidence of McNabb's growth as a quarterback. With Antonio Freeman becoming more comfortable in the offense, the sky is the limit for McNabb. McNabb now has 10 total touchdowns in the first 3 weeks of the season.

QB Brett Favre (GB) - The preseason concerns over Favre's receiving crew is disappearing fast. Donald Driver is producing as a quality #2 receiver and Terry Glenn is starting to look more comfortable in the offense. Favre connected with TE Bubba Franks 9 times on the day and also connected with 2nd year receiver Robert Ferguson for a touchdown. Plain and simple, Favre is utilizing his young, talented receiving crew to produce solid fantasy numbers.

QB Drew Bledsoe (NE) - Bledsoe was not able to produce the gaudy numbers from week 2 (463 yards, 3 touchdowns), but he was able to post solid fantasy numbers (283 yards, 2 touchdowns) against a quality Broncos defense that shut down both the 49ers and Rams in the first two weeks of the season. With Moulds, Price, Reed and Centers as his main receiving options, look for Bledsoe to continue his quality production throughout the season. He's looking real good.

QB Tim Couch (Cle) - Couch's arm doesn't appear to be a concern anymore. He led the Browns to victory with 326 yards and 3 touchdowns on Sunday. Let's hope the Browns didn't overuse Couch by having him throw 50 passes on Sunday.

QB Aaron Brooks (NO) - This just in...Aaron Brooks is pretty darn good. Brooks started the season with two solid performances (239 passing yards/game and 2 touchdowns/game). He exploded on Sunday with 233 passing yards and 4 total touchdowns against a solid Bears defense. More importantly, Brooks showed great poise in leading the Saints to victory on Sunday.

(Waiver Wire) QB Rodney Peete (Car) - He's not putting up great numbers, but Peete is posting solid numbers worthy of a backup quarterback and occasional starter. Peete completed 20 of 30 passes for 221 yards and 1 touchdown on Sunday. Don't expect greatness from Peete, but he will help with depth in larger leagues.

RB Ricky Williams (NO) - With 151 rushing yards on Sunday, Williams has now rushed for over 100 yards in the first 3 weeks of the season. Preseason concerns revolved around the Dolphins offensive line. The offensive line looks good right now. Williams is not getting a good number of receptions, but he making up for the lack of receptions with production on the ground.

RB Priest Holmes (KC) - 198 total yards and 3 touchdowns on Sunday...Yep, he's pretty darn good. Holmes has entered "Marshall Faulk territory". Heck, he's outperforming Faulk in the early parts of the season.

RB Lamar Smith (Car) - Throughout the preseason, it looked like Smith would lose his job to Deshaun Foster until Foster's leg injury occurred. He's taking full advantage of his opportunity and is currently locked in as the starter even with the return of Foster in the next few weeks. Smith burned the Vikings defense for 154 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns this week. Smith has now scored 4 touchdowns in the last 2 weeks. If you've got Smith on your roster, it may be a good time to trade him while his value is high.

RB Clinton Portis (Den) - The Denver running back situation continues to be confusing. It appears that Coach Shanahan is intent on getting rookie Clinton Portis more carries as the season progresses. Portis gained 103 yards on 18 carries and also scored a touchdown. Portis is the back of the future and the future appears to be arriving soon. He got his break due to Gary leaving early with a sprained ankle. Portis' owners have been frustrated throughout the first 2 weeks of the season, but week 3 indications appear to raise Portis' stock.

RB LaDanian Tomlinson (SD) - LT was solid on Sunday with 91 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. Tomlinson caught just 4 passes in the first two weeks of the season. The lack of receptions was concerning to many owners as evidenced a good number of emails on the subject. With 5 receptions on Sunday, the concerns over the lack of receptions should be erased. Tomlinson will continue to the main focal point of the Chargers offense, which includes the passing game.

RB James Stewart (Det) - Stewart looked good on Sunday with 88 rushing yards and an excellent 52-yard receiving touchdown. With Joey Harrington in the Detroit lineup, Stewart's stock has risen and shall continue to rise with the development of Harrington. Keep in mind, the Detroit offense will remain inconsistent, but the insertion of Harrington will help a bunch.

(Waiver Wire) RB Jamel White (Cle) - White continues to outshine rookie William Green. Green fumbled twice on 8 carries against the Titans. White replaced him in the lineup and posted quality numbers (43 rushing yards, 9 receptions, 38 receiving yards). Look for White to continue to see more playing time as long as Green struggles.

(Waiver Wire) RB Jonathon Wells (Hou) - Rookie Jonathon Wells continues to share carries with veteran James Allen. Allen suffered a knee injury on Sunday and Wells stepped into the lineup and performed. Wells clearly outperformed Allen on Sunday against the Colts and it is only a matter of time before Wells gets the majority of the carries. Allen rushed for 27 yards on 11 carries. Wells rambled for 93 yards on 14 carries. Because of the Texans unproductive offense, expect Wells production to be inconsistent, if he is named the starter.

(Waiver Wire) RB Najeh Davenport (GB) - Davenport filled in quite nicely for the injured Ahman Green on Sunday against the Lions. Davenport finished with 115 total yards and appears fixed as the #2 RB behind Ahman Green on the depth chart. Davenport is a must have for any Green owner.

WR Troy Brown (NE) - 16 catches, 176 yards, 1 touchdown....enough said. Brown reminded everyone why he is the #1 receiver in New England with his performance on Sunday.

(Waiver Wire) WR Antonio Freeman (Phi) - Freeman looks to be gaining a comfort level in the Eagles offense. He made some clutch catches and finished with 118 receiving yards which included a 59-yard score from Donovan McNabb. Freeman's productivity will rise as continues to work with Donovan McNabb in practice. Freeman could be available in some leagues. It would be a wise idea to add him to your roster.

(Waiver Wire) WR Andre Davis (Cle) - Davis looked good on Sunday with 99 yards and 2 touchdowns. It appears that the 2nd WR position in Cleveland is showing signs of production. If you are in need of a WR, grab Davis and store him on your roster until he starts to show consistency on a weekly basis.

WR Donald Driver (GB) - Driver is now fixated as the #2 WR for Green Bay right now. He gained 94 yards on Sunday and scored his 1st touchdown on the season. Driver is a good play, especially with Brett Favre at quarterback.

WR Marty Booker (Chi) - Booker posted another solid outing on Sunday with 8 receptions for 97 yards and a touchdown. Booker has positioned himself as a borderline #1 fantasy receiver. He is a solid play every week and is the focal point of the Bears passing game.

WR Eric Moulds (Buf) - Moulds is starting to build a quality rapport with Bledsoe. With Peerless Price commanding attention on the other side of the field, look for Moulds to continue to produce quality numbers. Moulds has received for 112, 86 and 96 yards in the first 3 weeks, including a touchdown this week. Bledsoe seems like a far better quarterback than Rob Johnson...don't you agree?

WR Curtis Conway (SD) - Conway has posted solid numbers the last 2 weeks including 7 receptions for 92 yards on Sunday. He's a quality option and is asserting himself as a solid #2 fantasy WR. Look for continued production from Conway with the talented Drew Brees at quarterback.

(Waiver Wire) WR Steve Smith (Car) - We designated Smith as a potential sleeper at the end of training camp. It appears that he is starting to wake up and produce. With 4 receptions for 71 yards in week 2 and 5receptions for 81 yards in week 3, Smith is starting to establish himself as a waiver wire pickup and potentially consistent receiver.

(Waiver Wire) WR Donte Stallworth (NO) - Stallworth has scored a touchdown in each of the first 3 games. The yardage numbers have not been there, but his playmaking ability is grabbing the attention of Aaron Brooks.

WR Peerless Price (Buf) - Price and the Buffalo passing game is looking good this year. Price has gained 80+ yards in each of the first 3 weeks, including his excellent numbers in week 2. Price's stock is up dramatically because of the presence of Bledsoe in the passing game.

TE Randy McMichael (Mia) - This guy can play. He made the highlight reel with an unbelievable one hand grab this week, but has loked solid all season. Wirh solid production from Ricky Williams and the receivers, McMichael will see single coverage all season.

PK Adam Vinatieri (NE) - He has quietly made 16 FGs in a row dating back to last season. He is clutch and playing on a team that looks to have one of the best offenses this season. He is a sure starter every week.
Downgrades

QB Shane Matthews (Was) - Shane struggled again and was again replaced by Danny Wuerrfel late in the game. It is just a matter of time before Patrick Ramsey is the starting QB in Washington.

QB Vinnie Testaverde (NYJ) - The Jets offense is looking terrible. If it doesn't improve soon, Testaverde could get benched in favor of Chad Pennington. Testaverde has failed to throw for over 150 yards in the last 2 outings.

QB Daunte Culpepper (Min) - Culpepper looked awful on Sunday with 4 interceptions against Carolina. More disturbing, he got into a verbal confrontation with Randy Moss on the sidelines. Moss tried to "one-hand" a catch over the middle, which resulted in an interception.

QB David Carr (Hou) - Carr looks like what he is...a rookie quarterback. Carr has struggled the last few weeks and deserves a roster spot only on keeper leagues. In the last two weeks, Carr has failed to cross the 100-yard barrier for passing. Heck, if you've got Carr as a starter, you've got some big issues.

QB Jeff Garcia (SF) - Garcia has struggled mightily this season with just 4 total touchdowns in the first 3 weeks. He battled the flu on Sunday and managed just 84 yards passing. All in all, Garcia has not looked good this season. He is struggling with his reads. If Owens is not open, Garcia looks lost in the offense. Give him some time and see what happens.

RB Rondell Mealey (GB) - He was clearly the #2 RB before Ahman Green went down. The coaching staff was waivering on who would play in place of the injured Green before Sunday and finally settled on who had the hot hand. Mealey finished with 5 carries for 7 yards: Davenport got 22 carries for 84 yards. Mealey clearly lost the #2 RB job to Davenport with this performance.

RB Mike Anderson/Olandis Gary (Den) - The Denver running back situation continues to be confusing. It appears that Coach Shanahan is intent on getting rookie Clinton Portis more carries as the season progresses. Portis gained 103 yards on 18 carries and also scored a touchdown. Portis is the back of the future and the future appears to be arriving soon. Portis' owners have been frustrated throughout the first 2 weeks of the season, but week 3 indications appear to raise Portis' stock. With the rise of Portis comes the fall of Anderson and Gary. Anderson managed just 28 yards on 7 carries. Gary did not hit the stat line because of a sprained ankle that he suffered in Sunday's game.

RB Deshaun Foster (Car) - With the rise of Lamar Smith comes the fall of Deshaun Foster. Smith has been producing quality stats while Foster is recovering from injury. The talented rookie will need to impress the coaching staff and produce in game situations to overtake Smith for the starting spot.

RB William Green (Cle) - Green has been horrific in the early parts of the season. With 2 fumbles in 8 carries on Sunday, Green's stock has reached an all-time low. During the first 3 games of the season, Green is averaging a meager 2.4 yards/carry. Look for Jamel White to continue getting a high number of touches until Green can show signs of improvement and production.

RB Michael Bennett (Min) - There's good news and bad news with Michael Bennett. The good news...he scored on a 1-yard touchdown run on Sunday. The bad news...he managed just 23 yards on 9 carries (2.5 yards/carry). The Vikings offense has struggled throughout the early stages of the season. The passing game struggles will limit Bennett's effectiveness. Bennett is in danger of losing his starting job to Moe Williams.

RB Curtis Martin (NYJ) - Martin struggled again and it's not helping that the passing game is so out of sync. Martin usually shines in the second half of a game, but that requires the Jets staying close in games. That has not happened as the Jets look awful. Martin gets a downgrade until the team shows they have at least a competitive passing attack.

RB Shaun Alexander (Sea) - Where's the magic from 2001? Alexander has been very consistent this season. He gained 37 rushing yards in week 3 to match his 37 rushing yards in week 2 and 36 yards in week 1. Alexander was consistently rated as a top-5 running back heading into drafts. He has been a big disappointment so far.

WR Laveraneous Coles (NYJ) - Coles has caught just 6 passes for 46 yards on the season. This is a far cry from a top-25 receiver ranking that many gave the talented Coles. With Testaverde and the Jets offense struggling, Coles production will be limited. Now is the time to make a trade offer for Coles. He should get out of his slump in the next few weeks.

WR Randy Moss (Min) - After a dismal effort on a couple of plays, Daunte Culpepper let him have an earful. The 40% ratio is also causing a lot on interceptions as team's center their defense on giving the illusion that Moss is open. Look for an upset Culpepper to start spreading the ball around more to the rest of his receivers and tight ends.

WR Derrick Alexander (Min) - Alexander has been invisible in the Vikings offense this season and Sunday was no different. Alexander has managed to grab a meager 5 receptions for 48 yards over the first 3 weeks of the season.

WR Johnnie Morton (KC) - Morton has been horrendous during the early stages of the season. Morton showed some improvement on Sunday. He managed 2 receptions for 44 yards against the Patriots. Add this total to his first two games and Morton has a grand total of 5 receptions for 82 yards. I think you can understand why Johnnie Morton has been downgraded.
