Upgrades
****(Waiver Wire)**** QB Joey Harrington (DET) - Harrington looked good on Sunday against the Vikings with another strong performance. He finished with 309 passing yards and two touchdowns. Keep in mind; this was against a struggling Vikings defense. I am convinced that Harrington is the real deal, but not worthy of a starting position on a weekly basis. Harrington appears to be a quality #2 or #3 fantasy quarterback.

****(Waiver Wire)**** QB Drew Brees (SD) - Brees led the Chargers to yet another victory with 319 yards and two touchdowns against the Chiefs. Brees is starting to develop into a decent NFL quarterback who is capable of posting quality fantasy numbers against weaker defenses. With Curtis Conway healthy, Brees is a quality #2 fantasy quarterback with the designation of a "spot starter" against weaker opponents.

****(Waiver Wire)**** QB Doug Johnson (ATL) - Johnson threw for 257 yards and a touchdown in a Falcons win over the Giants. Johnson also ran for a 15-yard touchdown. Johnson will be returning to the bench when Vick is healthy. For the time being, Johnson could be a decent pickup for teams in need of a quarterback, if Vick remains on the sidelines for the next few weeks.

QB Daunte Culpepper (MIN) - Culpepper had a solid performance against the Lions with 295 passing yards, 39 rushing yards and 3 total touchdowns. Culpepper has been a disappointment this season. Culpepper is trying regain the status of being an elite fantasy quarterback. With further performances like this one, Culpepper is well on his way to regaining the confidence of fantasy owners.

QB Aaron Brooks (NO) - Brooks struggled with just 12 completions on Sunday, but still managed 205 passing yards and 3 touchdowns. Brooks continues to establish himself as an elite fantasy quarterback. The Saints offense is explosive with the passing of Brooks and the running of Deuce McAllister. Keep Brooks in your lineup.

****(Waiver Wire)**** QB Marc Bulger (STL) - Bulger threw for three touchdowns in the Rams first win of the season. Bulger looked impressive with 14-21 passing for 186 yards. Look for Bulger to remain the Rams' starting quarterback. If Bulger is on the waiver wire, grab him now. With Warner out for 6-8 more weeks, look for Bulger to put up decent stats.

****(Waiver Wire)**** QB Tommy Maddox (PIT) - Maddox did not post the best numbers against Cincinnati on Sunday, but he did lead the Steelers to a 34-7 win. Maddox gave himself some job security with a Steelers victory. With Burress, Ward and Randel-El catching passes, Maddox has the potential to become a quality fantasy starter. If he is still available, grab him.

QB Travis Henry (BUF) - Henry started the season strong and continued that trend with 28 carries for 159 yards and two touchdowns against the Texans. The Buffalo offense is putting points on the board and Henry is being rewarded with some hard running. One side note…Henry did lose another fumble today. This should not become a problem as long as Henry continues racking up yardage and scoring touchdowns.

RB Ahman Green (GB) - Green finished with 157 total yards and 2 touchdowns against the Patriots. Plain and simple, the Packers offense is on fire. Look for Green's production to increase as we head into the bad weather months. He is a stud.

RB Eddie George (TEN) - George rushed for his best game of the year on Sunday. George looked good against the Jaguars. The Titan running back also had a long touchdown run called back because of penalty. This performance should give George owners some confidence. Bump George up and get him back in your lineup, if you benched him.

RB Jerome Bettis (PIT) - Bettis and the Steelers offense looked good on Sunday. Keep in mind; almost every team looks good against the lowly Bengals. Bettis has had two strong games in a row including 109 yards and two touchdowns this Sunday. Bettis continues to hold off Zeroue and Fuatu-Maafala for the feature role in the Steelers rushing game.

RB Deuce McAllister (NO) - McAllister had another solid performance on Sunday and continues to be an elite fantasy back. With 121 rushing yards on Sunday, McAllister now has rushed for 582 yards and five touchdowns in the first 3 weeks of the season. Ricky who?

RB Marshall Faulk (STL) - Because of the Rams struggling offense Faulk may not be as explosive as in years past, but he remains a top fantasy running back. Faulk gained 180 total yards and scored a touchdown Sunday.

RB T.J. Duckett (ATL) - Duckett's trend of getting an increased role in the offense continued this week. Duckett managed just 36 yards on 16 carries. However, Warrick Dunn managed just 8 yards on six carries. Dunn was more involved in the passing game with seven catches for 69 yards. The fact that Duckett got a lot more carries than Dunn is the important part for fantasy owners going forward.

****(Waiver Wire)**** RB Jonathon Wells (HOU) - Wells once again outperformed James Allen. Wells gained 70 yards on 12 carries, while Allen was held to 21 yards on eight carries. Wells became the focal point of the Texans offense as the game progressed Sunday. Look for Wells to continue to get the bulk of the action at running back for the Texans. He should not be considered a starting fantasy back, but he could be productive in a "spot starter" role.

WR Plaxico Burress (PIT) - Owners were prematurely jumping off the Burress bandwagon a few weeks ago. The addition of Tommy Maddox into the lineup has reversed that trend. Burress finished Sunday's game with eight catches for 149 yards. Look for Burress to continue his outstanding production with Maddox at quarterback.

WR Curtis Conway (SD) - Conway had a good and bad game on Sunday. The bad: Conway fumbled the ball twice against Kansas City. The good: Conway finished with eight catches for 129 yards and a rushing touchdown. Conway has always been a talented receiver who produces when healthy. Look for Conway's production to continue as long as he remains healthy.

WR Peerless Price (BUF) - Inconsistency was the biggest concern with Price throughout his career. I believe he has answered his critics with a tremendous start of the season. Price had eight catches for 121 yards and a touchdown on Sunday. Price continues to be necessary start as long as Drew Bledsoe is healthy.

****(Waiver Wire)**** WR Muhsin Muhammad (CAR) - Muhammad returned to the lineup on Sunday and finished with 82 yards on six catches. Muhammad has been nursing a hamstring injury, but he looked good on Sunday. There is a chance that an impatient owner may have dropped Muhammad. Grab him, if you can.

WR Torry Holt/Isaac Bruce (STL) - The Rams offense looked good against the Raiders on Sunday. Although I still expect inconsistent production from the Rams, Sunday's performance was a very good sign for Holt and Bruce. Marc Bulger looked good in the pocket and delivered the ball to his playmakers.

Downgrades

QB Patrick Ramsey (WAS) - Here's what I said last week about Patrick Ramsey…" It appears that Ramsey will be the new starter in Washington. Ramsey is worth a roster spot in keeper leagues, but his production this season will most likely be inconsistent." Inconsistency will reign supreme for the remainder of the season for Ramsey. Ramsey finished Sunday's game with 320 passing yards, 2 total touchdowns and 4 interceptions.

QB Tim Couch (CLE) - With Kelly Holcombe recovering from a broken leg, Couch's job is safe for the next 3-4 weeks. However, if he does not improve his performance from Sunday (151 yards, 0 touchdowns, 1 interception), Couch could find himself on the bench for the remainder of the season. Keep in mind, Couch was facing a solid Buccaneers defense this week.

QB Mark Brunell (JAC) - Brunell left Sunday's game against Tennessee with a concussion. Concussions have a tendency to leave lingering effects with quarterbacks. Brunell's status for the upcoming week will be determined closer to game time.

QB Rodney Peete (CAR) - Peete left Sunday's game with headaches. Chris Weinke stepped into the lineup and moved the offense. Peete remains the quarterback in Carolina. However, the question remains…Will headache like symptoms prevent Peete from finishing other games during the remainder of the season?

QB Kordell Stewart (PIT) - As long as Tommy Maddox leads the Steelers to victory, Stewart will remain on the bench. Right now, there is no reason to have Stewart on your fantasy roster.

QB Tom Brady (NE) - Brady has struggled with five interceptions in the last two games. He managed just 183 passing yards and 1 touchdown against Green Bay while throwing three interceptions. Brady could do no wrong 3 weeks ago, but opposing defenses seems to have caught up to the Patriots passing game. The next few weeks will be critical for Brady and the Patriots offense. Downgrade Brady for now.

RB James Stewart (DET) - Under the direction of rookie Joey Harrington, the Lions passing offense is improving. However, Stewart and the running game remain stagnant. Stewart managed just 42 yards on 10 carries. 27 yards came on one carry, so Stewart averaged just 1.7 yards/carry on nine of his carries. Stewart appears to have lost a step and it is showing in his stat line. It might be a wise move to bench Stewart and look elsewhere for production at the running back position.

RB Warrick Dunn (ATL) - Dunn continues to lose more and more carries to rookie T.J. Duckett. Duckett managed just 36 yards on 16 carries, but received 10 more carries than Dunn. Dunn was more involved in the passing game with seven catches for 69 yards. The fact that Duckett got a lot more carries than Dunn is the important part for fantasy owners learn from Sunday's game. Dunn will remain on the field as a receiving option, but his carries will be limited.

RB James Allen (HOU) - Allen was once again outperformed by Jonathon Wells. Wells gained 70 yards on 12 carries, while Allen was held to 21 yards on eight carries during a struggling performance. Wells became the focal point of the Texans offense as the game progressed Sunday. Allen has no fantasy value at the current time and should be dropped.

WR Eddie Kennison (KC) - Kennison continues his inconsistent play and it's hurting fantasy owners who are hoping for a big week. Kennison has managed just five catches in the last 3 weeks. If you are playing Kennison, it is time to put him on the bench. Consistency is needed to win at fantasy football and Kennison is not providing it.

WR Kevin Johnson (CLE) - With Couch struggling at quarterback, Johnson's production has been minimal in the last 3 weeks. Johnson has managed just nine catches and zero touchdowns in the last three games. Until Couch stops his whining and starts producing, it might be best to bench Johnson.

WR Michael Westbrook (WAS) - Westbrook was visibly upset after being designated inactive for Sunday's game. He left the stadium 90 minutes before the game and never returned. This is not a good sign for Westbrook owners. Let us take a different perspective on this one. Did Westbrook have any value in the Bengals' horrendous offense?

WR Donte Stallworth (NO) - Stallworth missed Sunday's game with a hamstring injury. Stallworth has been battling a hamstring injury since training camp. If you remember during the preseason, I detailed the likelihood that hamstring injuries have a tendency to linger and reoccur. Stallworth is a very talented wide receiver, but he could be nursing this injury for the remainder of the season.
