Beyond the Baseline

Steve McNair
Ten
QB13
76th
Steve McNair hasn't played well this year; and whether it's a result of his sternum injury, his less accomplished supporting cast versus a year ago -- or more likely a combination of the two, he hasn't helped many fantasy owners remains competitive. But look for him to bounce back this week, as Chris Brown is banged up and the team will look to reestablish the pass against a very suspect secondary.
Maurile Tremblay Selects....
Jake Delhomme
Car
QB17
90th
Delhomme is off to a terrible start this year: his team is 1-4, he is leading the league in interceptions, and some fans are calling for Chris Weinke to replace him. To fact the San Diego Charger defense, however, is just what he needs. Although the Charger defense is improved overall this year, it is still vulnerable against the pass and is prone to give up big plays. The Chargers have given up more completions for more yards than any other team in the league.
Chase Stuart Selects....
Jake Plummer
Den
QB16
87th
The Bengals pass defense leaves a lot to be desired, and Plummer is quietly having a strong season. With a strong ground game back in Denver, Plummer will be able to exploit defenses looking for the run. The Bengals are allowing 7.8 yards per attempt, while Plummer is averaging 7.2 per pass.

Marc Bulger
StL
QB4
39th
Bulger is going to have more good Sundays than bad; however if you have another viable option this week, it's worth benching him. He faces a Miami secondary that's allowing the fewest points to opposing QBs, by far.
Maurile Tremblay Selects....
Marc Bulger
StL
QB4
39th
Bulger is coming off of two very impressive performances in a row against two of the tougher pass defenses in the league. In the last two games against the Buccaneers and the Seahawks, Bulger has thrown for 589 yards and 5 touchdowns. He will not keep it up against the league's top-ranked pass defense. Until Drew Bledsoe "broke out" with a 212 yard game against them last week, every QB to face the Dolphins this year has had his worst fantasy game against them.
Chase Stuart Selects....
Marc Bulger
StL
QB4
39th
Bulger's a top fantasy quarterback, but Miami is the toughest assignment for any opposing QB. In addition to having one of the best Ds in the league, teams just don't need to score many points to beat the Dolphins. They have allowed just 123 yards passing per week.

Jason Wood Selects....
Mewelde Moore
Min
RB37
108th
Mewelde Moore has looked like anything other than a 4th string rookie. He's been adept as both a runner and a receiver; proving himself perfect for the Vikings offensive system under OC Scott Linehan. Ride him for another week without hesitation as they face a very beatable Titans rushing defense.
Maurile Tremblay Selects....
Sammy Morris
Mia
RB29
79th
Morris gained 91 yards rushing last week, and looked pretty good doing it. The Rams are giving up 130+ rushing yards per game this year on 4.8 yards per carry, and they are coming off a short week after a tough Monday Night Football game last week.
Chase Stuart Selects....
Michael Pittman
TB
RB26
46th
Pittman should see a lot of action this week, as the Bucs defense looks poised to contain the Bears offense. The Bears aren't great against the run, and Pittman is due for a good game. He hasn't looked great yet, but he did score last week. Expect twenty carries or more for Pittman against the Bears.

Jason Wood Selects....
Rudi Johnson
Cin
RB16
23rd
Rudi Johnson faces one of the best run defenses in the league on Monday Night Football. Denver simply won't allow Johnson to beat them, especially with QB Carson Palmer currently the worst rated passer in the league. They will double team Chad Johnson and play the run, begging Palmer to beat them downfield with other weapons; it won't happen.
Maurile Tremblay Selects....
Stephen Davis
Car
RB18
27th
Davis gained 66 yards on 15 carries against the Eagles last week in his first action since he injured his knee in the season opener. Word is that he was held out of practice on Wednesday due to swelling in his knew, although he did not re-injure it and he is expected to play this Sunday. He will face a Charger defense, however, that has held its opponents to just 85 rushing yards per game on 3.52 yards per carry. He should expect a difficult day.
Chase Stuart Selects....
Lee Suggs
Cle
RB19
28th
Suggs will be going up against one of the best defenses in the league, and is still splitting time with William Green. Suggs is probably a guy you want to spot start if you can, and this is definitely a matchup to avoid. The Eagles are allowing just over a 100 yards per game on the ground, and they figure to get up early against the Browns.

Jason Wood Selects....
Terry Glenn
Dal
WR45
123rd
Terry Glenn seems to consistently be rated below Keyshawn Johnson yet he's outperformed him YTD from a fantasy perspective. With Antonio Bryant traded, Glenn will assuredly be an every week contributor and looks like a solid start as your WR2/WR3 especially this week against a terrible Packers secondary.
Maurile Tremblay Selects....
Muhsin Muhammad
Car
WR36
69th
Muhammad is the third Panther on my list this week: as you can tell, I expect the Panthers to abandon the run but to have success in the air against the Chargers. Muhammad has a distinct size advantage against CB Sammy Davis, who is the corner everybody is picking on. Muhammad should be able to set up at least one big play deep with a lot of underneath routes, racking up both yards and receptions.
Chase Stuart Selects....
Justin McCareins
NYJ
WR38
105th
The Jets should pass a lot against the Patriots, and McCareins may be the big beneficiary of an increased aerial attack. The Pats will lock in on Santana Moss, but McCareins saw a lot of targets last week. With New England focused on Curtis Martin, look for either Santana Moss or Justin McCareins to have their first big game of the year.

Jason Wood Selects....
Andre Davis
Cle
WR24
66th
Andre Davis simply isn't talented enough to be considered a must start, and he faces an Eagles defense that has gotten progressively more dominant, culminating in a 4 INT performance against Carolina in Week 6. With the addition of Antonio Bryant into the mix, Davis is better left on your bench except in very favorable matchups.
Maurile Tremblay Selects....
Chad Johnson
Cin
WR13
45th
The Bengals offense has suffered this year as neither Carson Palmer nor Chad Johnson have played up to expectations. This will not get easier for Johnson this week as he will face Champ Bailey all day in coverage. Bailey will get the better of that battle, and Johnson will have to wait at least another week before turning his season around.
Chase Stuart Selects....
Andre Davis
Cle
WR24
66th
Davis goes up against the Eagles secondary this weekend, and that's always a bad matchup. Philly is number one in points allowed and third in yards per attempt allowed. Davis had only one reception last week, and he probably won't get more than a handful this week.

the Baseline (TE12)
Jason Wood Selects....
L.J. Smith
Phi
TE14
133rd
L.J. Smith has had a set back since injuring himself several weeks ago. However, he's healthy again and the team needs him to get back into the offensive game plan as he did early in the season. Smith offers McNabb another alternative near the red zone when defenses key on TO; and don't be surprised if Smith gets a TD this weekend facing an overmatched Browns team.
Maurile Tremblay Selects....
Boo Williams
NO
TE12
122nd
Williams has had a very quiet season so far this year, and was totally shut out last week against the Vikings. He should rebound this week against a Raider defense that has struggled against the pass, giving up 7.9 yards per attempt. The Raiders allowed Bronco TE Jeb Putzier to catch three passes for 52 yards and a touchdown last week.
Chase Stuart Selects....
Jerramy Stevens
Sea
TE16
145th
Jerramy Stevens is finally cashing in on all that talent. With four catches for fifty yards last week, he's increased his numbers every week. Look for that trend to continue against the Cards, and he may even find the end zone.

Randy McMichael
Mia
TE6
68th
McMichael remains a talented pass catching tight end, unfortunately the Dolphins are redefining the meaning of ineptitude in 2004 and that's not likely to stop this week. The Rams defense has been vulnerable at times, but their speedy linebacking corps has done an excellent job shutting down tight ends. Don't start McMichael this week without giving serious thought to your alternatives.
Maurile Tremblay Selects....
Freddie Jones
Ari
TE10
98th
Freddie Jones is a talented pass-catcher, but he is being held back somewhat by the ineffectiveness of the Cardinals' passing offense in general. In four out of the Cardinals' five games so far this year, QB Josh McCown has thrown for fewer than 200 yards and 0 touchdowns. He should struggle again this week against a generally solid Seahawk defense, and Jones's stats will suffer as a result.
Chase Stuart Selects....
Freddie Jones
Ari
TE10
98th
Jones has just seven receptions the past three games, far from studly numbers. He only had two catches last game, and I expect the Cardinals offense to struggle against the Seahawks.
