Eric Moulds career statistics

I'll preface this comment by saying that I like Moulds a lot. I always have.

That said, has there ever been a player with a higher ratio of reputation to actual production? Well, I suppose there are always a few rookies and second year guys that get a lot of hype before they've ever done anything. But among veterans -- guys who have been around, and basically in the same situation, for four or five years -- has anyone ever achieved the Stud label with a resume as weak as Moulds'?

Eric Moulds' Resume:

Best season: 4th-ranked WR
2nd-best season: 14th-ranked WR
3rd-best season: 23rd-ranked WR

Compare that with this guy:

Mystery WR #1's Resume:

Best season: 5th-ranked WR
2nd-best season: 12th-ranked WR
3rd-best season: 12th-ranked WR
(two years older than Moulds)

Or this guy:

Mystery WR #2's Resume:

Best season: 10th-ranked WR
2nd-best season: 16th-ranked WR
3rd-best season: 21st-ranked WR
(same age as Moulds)

The mystery guys are Derrick Alexander (#1) and Muhsin Muhammad (#2), either of which can be had much later than Moulds in any fantasy draft this year. Sure, they both had down years last year, but so did Moulds. Sure, Moulds' team underwent a QB upgrade this year, but Alexander did too.

My point is not that Moulds shouldn't be going ahead of these guys. He should. But no matter how much talent you have, and no matter how dreadful the list of QBs you've worked with, shouldn't you have to crack the top 10 more than once in 6 seasons to be considered a stud?
