Watters has finished among the top 10 running backs nine times. Only Sanders, Payton, and Emmitt can equal that, and no one can top it (of course, I mean no one whose career started in 1970 or later, which is as far as my data is complete). Below you'll find a list of the top 100 RBs (ranked according to career VBD) whose careers started in 1970 or later (for the QB, WR, and TE lists, see Jeff Garcia and Terrell Owens). Watters is currently #8, and that's probably as high as he'll ever get. The primary item of interest on this list is the fact that Marshall Faulk now has a very real chance of occupying the #1 spot as little as two years from now.
